June VBAC mom's
Hey, wondering who here is preparing for a VBAC?
How are all my vbac mommas going?
I was since 20 weeks lol my first was always head down. This one was always breech or transverse! About a week ago I felt a huge roll and sure enough, he moved head down and I still believe that's where he is! I can usually see his exact location (leopolds maneuver as a L and D nurse has come in handy for home haha) and so for like 6 days now he has stayed head down which is the longest he ever has! So he better stay that way now that I'm just about 31 weeks lol
Thankfully, my MW is very experienced in breech so it's like the one hiccup I don't have to worry about!
My friend just had her vbac end of this past year & at 39 weeks her little bub flipped breech. She did EVERYTHING out there & thankfully her lo flipped back. She was so flustered though & worried.
Hopefully, everybody's bubs cooperate!
Anyone else completely anxious baby will flip breech?
I plan on going in once my contractions are steady and consistent. My OB said that she would let me go to 42 weeks. I refuse since my first was born via scheduled section at 39 weeks and was 8lbs 10oz. If I go to 42 weeks this baby might be ginormous haha I said 41 and 3 is my limit. She said she would attempt a foley bulb at 41 weeks or an AROM depending on my cervix at that time (if it's favorable) but nothing before. I never dilated or anything with my first so I'm hoping this time I'll have some change before labor so I can do membrane sweeps. My OB said that she will start stripping my membranes at 38 weeks if she's able!
Laboring at home is fine as a vbac. Just know your signs and symptoms of rupture. I plan to stay home a while but I also plan pain relief so I won't make myself miserable at home lol but the main symptom is you should feel relief when your contraction is over. If you feel steady pain anywhere on your stomach NOT during a contraction, you should go in. Even with an epidural, you would still feel a steady pain.
As a L and D nurse, I have had one uterine rupture. The patient was continuously monitored and she had an epidural. She felt a tight pain in her hip area which she always had thinking Baby position. we watched her. Baby looked great on the monitor and baby was delivered healthy. It was in recovery once the epidural started wearing off that my Fundal checks were unbearable. There was no bleeding and after many assessments, the OB came to see if there was a clot and the patient was not having it. Did a CT scan and turns out rupture. Ended back in the OR for repair. But baby was fine. It was her 4th baby, 3rd vbac.
This doesn't mean it will happen to any of you. But the constant aching or pain unlike your normal pregnancy symptoms is something to take note. So laboring at home, no relief after a contraction, make your way in! :)
We can do it ladies! Don't feel you need to "prep" either for those feeling shocked to hear of what others are doing! I feel like I should be doing more! But these are just normal ways women who aren't vbacing also do to prep their bodies! Sometimes we just need to feel like we are doing something! (As I'm currently drinking my RLT ?)
@luuvBree how was your first one? Just curious what was the cause of your first csect? The reason I'm doing so much is because my cervix was still all the way high and tight still at 41 weeks. I was 1/2 cm dilated and never dropped. It took 16 hours just to progress to a 5 when I was induced so this time I'm really putting forth my best effort.
With my first vbac I started having "I need to concentrate" contractions at 3pm and left to hospital at 7:30pm. I arrived at 5cm :) this was after 3 days of contractions buildup. My Dr doesn't want me to wait long since it's on a busy freeway 30min away and I'm a second time vbac. He's worried I'll have a freeway baby! I have it ingrained that I need to wait as long as possible at home due to first vbac. Now I hope I don't wait too long since most second times go faster. Luckily my dr is pro vbac so he would give me time.
Due June 1, had a c-section because my son got stuck. He was head down, but sunny side up and he was a very large baby. They allowed me to sign off on VBAC forms at my very first appointment. I get a scan at 35 weeks to make sure this baby is head down (she was breech for a minute) and to make sure she is smaller. They won't let me go too far past 40 weeks so, they'll start stripping the membranes at 38 weeks (which is also my birthday) and will continue to do so as necessary. Other forms of induction and intervention break down scar tissue so they won't do anything until I'm showing to be in active labor already. I've been doing some of the spinning babies positions and stair climbing. Watched my weight really closely. I'm not doing as many squats as I'd like and we should be getting that ball thing this week sometime.
I'm nervous, but I am going into this with the mindset that it CAN be done, but if it isn't done successfully, then that is okay, too. Not to beat myself up over it too much, you know? Just trying to take it all in stride.
I'm also planning on a vbac. I've been trying some different exercises at home to help baby get into a good position & also seeing a chiropractor. My last baby was breech, so I'm really trying to do everything to encourage this baby to be head down! I'm paranoid about having a repeat breech baby!
I Plan on waiting it out at home as long as I feel confident. I've never had a natural labor though
The only thing I have done so far is watching my weight better this pregnancy. Running after 2 almost 2 year olds and keeling very busy around my house. I set in plan to start walking at the very least 3 days a week, maybe 5 depending on the day, etc.
I might have some of the red raspberry tea, should this be approved before started?
I am going for a vbac too! Although I have had more than one c section previously so everything is riding on this.
I have committed everything to God spiritually and physically I have gained a LOT less weight and I am still working full time plus running around after my little ones. I walk for 2 hours per week (no time for dedicated exercise) unfortunately. I am now nearly 33 weeks and my baby is head down. Only thing I am worried about is the her position, I am almost positive her back is against mine ?
Just curious if all of us go into spontaneous labor do you ladies plan on laboring at home as long as possible? I know with vbac they want to monitor you really close so I was wanting to labor at home as long as possible but I'm scared of rupturing ? so just wanting to know your plans
I'm hoping for a vbac as well. I'm drinking 3 cups of rrlt and will start EPO at 35 weeks. I'm doing yoga and my exercise ball. Ive also only gained 2 lbs so far and hoping i can keep it that way.
Its so exciting seeing everyone going for a vbac! I hope we are all successful. I have decided though if I go to 42 weeks I'm not getting induced even though my doc will do it I'm just going to get the csect. I went through so many hours of labor last time and felt awful when ending in an emergency I'd rather just get the csect than labor and end in csect.
Wow I'm so glad this topic was brought up....I will be having my first vbac and was not even aware I had to prepare my body physically.
I just thought it was something doctor's monitor on that day to see how well you progress then go from there.
I'm a complete vbac rookie thanks for bringing this up ladies.
I got an organic one off amazon since walmart didn't have any
Ah I'm so excited to hear so many of us on here!! Definitely need to keep this thread going so we can encourage each other
I'm planning for a VBAC. Drinking RRLT, doing my spinning babies yoga and recommended positions...got my ball out but I just mostly look at it lol. Doing a lot of squatting....it's actually easier now I can squat all the way down to the floor and stay there awhile. Soon as my renewed insurance card comes in scheduling chiropractor visits. What's normal? Is it usually a once a month or weekly thing? I have terrible nerve pain when lying on my back or when I move my hip into the wrong position. With my last pregnancy I went into labor naturally but after 10.5 hours of labor ended up with a c section ?
The balls are only $8 at Walmart, which isn't bad
??????
But you ladies are making me feel lazy because I haven't really done much differently lol I had a scheduled section with my first. Going for my vbac this time. Signed my consent at my 30 week appointment yesterday! My plan was to keep my weight down and stay active but I've gained 30lbs and only work out like once a week. But I work a hard job where I'm on my feet 13 hours, and night shift. Also chasing after my 2 year old! So hopefully it helps! I just started some raspberry leaf tea but i haven't been drinking it regularly yet. Maybe once a day, 3 times a week for the last couple weeks. I've looked for my yoga ball but it's been packed away when we moved and I can't find it. The hubs going to look this weekend, and if not, I'll just buy a new one lol
My plan moving on from here now that I'm 30 weeks is to really watch what I am eating and try to keep my weight down the remainder of my pregnancy, try working out more often, and drink the tea! I talked to my OB about EPO and she wasn't really a fan. She said there really is no true research on it (which is true because I did a ton with my first) some women swear by it but hard to know compared to others. She said I can try it but she wants me to wait till 38 weeks and not to do it orally, only vaginally. She is going to start doing sweeps at 38 weeks if I'm dilated. (I never dilated with my first so ?? I will this time)
All in hopes I can not have another section, even tho mine was elective at 39 weeks! I'm expecting a 10 pounder so getting in some exercise so I can keep up and push this boy out is my best bet lol
The raspberry leaf tea helps strengthen the uterus and helps give you a shorter labor. Shorter labor means less time to end up with a c-section .
Midwives are more likely to recommend it over obgyns since there is little scientific proof it actually works. However, it doesn't hurt anything lol
I'm aiming for a VBAC, I had an emergency c section September 2012 my OB and hospital are on board and are very pro-VBAC. Hoping everything lines up! I had my c section due to the cord being wrapped around his neck so tightly and his heart rate kept dropping too low and staying low in early labor (I still think there were other options, and I was scared into a c section) but they said im a very good candidate since my water broke on its own, and I wasn't over due or my body wasn't the one not tolerating labor it was my baby.
I've been thinking of getting my birth ball out... I know it'll be so much better for my lower back than our livingroom chair/couch.
Plus I know sitting, leaning back, laying back all contribute to sunny side up babies.... not that I really need to worry about that THIS early but it's still on the mind. Lol!
I've started practicing with my birthing ball. So stability and different positions.
1 cup of raspberry leaf tea. Going to up it soon
1 evening primrose oil capsule a day. Ob approved. Going to stick with 1 until 36 weeks
Exercising 4-5 days a week. 40-60 min of cardio each time.
Keeping weight down as much as possible. Up 26lb at 30 weeks
Prepping for our 2nd vbac! Hopefully first totally at home birth! Last time we transferred (not emergent) right at the end... hoping to not do that this time!
I've really tried to watch my weight gain this time, have had regular chiro appts, and I've really focused on my mindset as that was my biggest struggle last time! I have a playlist of home/birthing center births I've watched & will begin rewatching soon. I've also already started prepping my birth space, get birth affirmations together, etc.
Me! First vbac for me had my daughter natural and my son c section. So I'm hoping this birth is smooth sailing. I hired a doula , she is a friend and co worker actually. I am going to the chiropractors up until birth. Drinking red raspberry leaf tea, eating dates. And trying to be prepared for the worst and hope for the healing birth I need.
Me! I'm going for #2 :) I'm on 3 cups of RRL tea now and will increase in my last month. I see a chiro & acupuncturist each month to keep me going. I will start reviewing all my Bradley material in April. We meet with our doula in 1 week. In the last month I'll ask acupuncturist to work on my points, I'll drink my date smoothie, & take my EPO orally.
What are you doing?

Good! I've been having a lot of cramping. Hoping that maybe my body is starting to dilate and prepare for baby (not that I won't him born yet, but 38-39 weeks would be nice lol) I usually have a lot of contractions at work due to being on my feet 13 hours and stress but figured that can only help me lol
Drinking 1-2 cups of rlt daily (if I remember, probably only 4 days a week lol)
I have really started watching what I've been eating and being less lazy to help with my weight gain. Now is when my OB says the babes tend to put on the most weight so I'm trying to be healthier. I usually have been gaining a pound a week and my last appointment in Wednesday I only gained 0.5lbs in the 2 weeks so I felt like it was a small victory! Not dieting or anything but just eating less crap and working out helped haha
