daycare costs
Me thinking ahead to daycare costs, how much are you guys paying for daycare for your little ones? Just saw a rate for $175 a week or $700 a month....and I'm freaking out bc it'll just be me paying that!!!
Aww man it's so different around the country!!! I will check out care.com now and see how they are. My aunt watched my first baby and I paid her $100 every two weeks. I liked not having to pay a whole lot but then you have to deal with them doing what they want, not exactly what you want or how out want to raise your baby. I know it's pros and cons to every decision so. I got at least 3 months before I have to make a decision so we shall see!! Thanks for your input ladies ?
What the?!!!? I pay 170 a week for my 3yo. I’ve paid that since he was 1yo. Includes meals, snacks, everything. All I used to have to bring was diapers now he’s potty trained.
It’s an in-home daycare and she is licensed and has some helpers. Look through your county’s website and you can make sure their licensed and see if they’ve had any complaints.
For licensed daycare, it would've been $150/week every week plus the lady would've had 3 weeks off each year that we would still have had to pay her AND find someone else to watch our daughter. 2 of those weeks were for childcare seminars to keep the lady up to date with childcare stuff and properly registered; the other week was for her personal vacation.
It would've been Monday to Friday daycare from 5am until 6pm (earliest to latest) so the hours would not have worked for us anyways.
Instead, we used under the table babysitting. So no claiming childcare costs on taxes, but through my work we were able to set aside pretax money for childcare and we were able to be reimbursed with pretax money for the childcare incurred due to work. We just put down X's where it asked for her SSN, and said that she's exempt from paying taxes.
That worked much better for us, as we worked variable hours. So when we had to work from 3pm-midnight and pick up our baby at 1230am, the babysitter was ok with that.
The cost for the babysitter was $20/day. Just $20 cash, and she'd take care of our baby for us, in her home. She had other children she watched, and her teenaged granddaughters were also there, and they helped her with the kids.
It worked out very nicely for us.
Definitely look for a private sitter! The baby won't be exposed to so many other people which means less likely to get sick and it's MUCH cheaper. If you go to Care.com, you can find someone with great ratings by real people and you can schedule to meet a few times to see how baby does with that person. Way better than daycare!
I'm in Denver and it costs $1000-1400/month per kiddo for full-time daycare. DD is at a fantastic church-based daycare which is slightly cheaper than the other places around here, but we still pay $1100/month for her at 2 years of age. So freaking expensive!!!
In-home daycares are generally cheaper but I personally don't like the lack of accountability. In a regular daycare, there are a lot of regulations and checks (for example, our infant room has windows on almost all sides and people walk by all day long), so the chance of abuse is super duper low.
Bottom line is, my salary is not going to cut it. I need a second job!!!
I wish I could stay home and take care of my baby. But I have to work as it's only just me. Unsure if SO will help with this one. Right now, after paying bills, I'll only have $200 left over and I know that's not nearly enough
Try to find a private sitter instead. A lot of private sitters don’t charge more than $125/week.. at least around here.. when my daughter was at a private sitter, it was $100/week & I supplied a lunch..
When she went to day care, it was $168/week, wether she was there or not. So if she was sick for 2 or 3 days, I still paid the full amount.
That's normal and it's actually higher where I live. About $800-900 a month for one child in full time daycare. If you want a cheaper alternative see if you can find a stay at home mom that can watch your baby for less. If not, then you'll probably want to stay home with the baby otherwise you're only working to pay for childcare.
I didn't have to go through this with my first bc my aunt watched her. And I just paid her $100 every two weeks. I cant apply for subsidy bc according to their requirements, I make too much ?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
TWW!!
2dpo and on the tww journey. Anyone on the same dpo or close? Haven't decided if I will test at 12dpo or just wait and see if she shows up!!
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Girl I’d love to pay $175 a week are you kidding?!
It’s $225/week - $900/month for me. And I have a toddler. Rates for infants are worse.
