Car seat base
Is it just me or is it impossible to tighten the latches enough on the car seat base?! It's supposed to be tight enough to where it can't move more than an inch side to side and I just can't get it that tight. I've tried sitting on it and even having SO sit on it while I pull the straps. Is there some secret to it that I'm missing?
So if I can't put my car seat in the middle of my car, can I put it on either side of the back seat or is there a specific side? I have a 2005 Nissan Altima.
Because I can't sit here and watch Bolt for the 8,000th time, let's take a trip down memory lane!
I am so incredibly grateful for my best friend. Last night she and I were in a car accident. I was driving and we got hit by a student driver. My car is totaled, I had to come out of pocket for a rental car. Both of my kids car seats were in the car and I’ve been stressing on how to buy new seats for them, she just told me that her and her husband bought us new car seats. I can’t stop crying.
Ok I am wondering if it is safe to put a newborn baby in a car seat with out a base? I was getting a car seat from someone but it does not have a base is it safe!?
so ashamed Today so, baby and I had to take a cab because we're getting the car fixed. I took the car seat and left the base in our car.

I have a hard time getting it tight as well. Even with sitting on it. I feel like I'm always struggling with my children's convertible carseats even though I've had someone show me how to install it.

I push my knee into it as I tighten the straps myself. Seems to work for me

My manual says use the system that gives the best fit. You might have to try the shoulder belt way and see if you can get a better fit that way

Also, where are you trying to put it?
in my car, you can't use the middle seat. Make sure you check both your car's manual and the carrier manual.

If the regular seatbelt ratchets, then it might be better just to use that.whatever gets it in there as snug as possible.you could also try tightening the straps before connecting it to the seat, instead of trying to tighten them while already latched

I just got an SUV with third row, I'm installing it on the middle row on the drivers side. I finally got it pretty tight, could be a tiiiiny bit tighter. I'm going to try again later lol

I find it hard to get a proper fit also.
Putting weight in the seat helps (kneel on it, sit an older kid in it, etc) and then look the angle you're pulling the strap so it's as close to straight as possible. I've needed pool noodles to achieve the right level as well, some are hard to tighten if they're tilted inward too much.

Not sure where you live but I know here in California you can take it to any police station/fire station/chp/etc and they will check it for you or correctly install it if you need help.

Here in az you can make an appointment with the fire station for them to install or check your install. I would recommend that.
