LMP vs Late Ultrasound dd

According to my LMP I will be 31 weeks today. My midwive never had me done an early scan but they sent me for a 5th mth scan. According to.the ultrasound I would be 29 wk 4 days. And I know when I had my last period and I also know ultrasound done this late the dates are mostly off. I would like opinions on this what you all think. Doctor is going by the 5 mth scan but I'm going by my period

Barebon do you think a late scan at five mths the dd is accurate? According to what I had read and know ultrasound done so late are mostly off. My LMP puts my due date at 12 may but this late ultrasound scan puts dd at 23 may. I'm preparing more for 12 may. My doctor also change my dd to late scan which everyone says also is crazy because I had never gotten an early scan to get a correct date

Yours is only a week off so that’s probably why they aren’t making a big deal out of it. Since baby is typically guesstimated to come within a week of due date whether that be a week before or a week after.

Mine has been a couple weeks off and I definitely know when and how long my cycles happened and when I last had sex. So I’ve just been prepping like I am the earlier date just in case but expecting to go as long as the last date. My last pregnancy was on the exact same cycle and the exact same dating period and I had my daughter 8 days prior to my due date! It will be fun to see which date is more accurate! Claim your bets on a date lol. Both times my due date has been on the 8th and both times I conceived just prior to my period which is unusual and had a really weird last period. I think sometimes that can throw things off. But every body is different and some women carry the full nine months and some women never do! So you never know.

I live in Sweden and they have never sent me for early scan rather than this 5mth scan but I'm preparing for earlier date. My two other kids was born in the Caribbean and I had always got scans at 3 mths because doc says a earlier scan is most accurate than late scan but they never go with the dates from a late scan.

You would need to know how long your cycles are for your LMP date to be accurate. The "average cycle" is 28 days but mine, for example, is 31. That means I ovulated really late. I was keeping track of all this because we were a few months into trying to conceive. Even if your periods are pretty regular, it's knowing when you ovulated that can help predict Dd most accurately. Talk to your doctor again your next appointment maybe ?

Not sure hun iv had about 4 scans with this bub an my doc is going by them as my 13w an 20w are measuring the same dates, i had a scan at 5w an 7w an was only 3 days ahead, but I always have regular periods to but I don't ovulate like normal e.g. most ovulate around day 14 but I do anywhere from day 8 to day 12 instead but I have stuffed ovarys my son 5yrs ago was fertility baby, an this one was a huge suprise as I was told i couldn't have anymore.
Also with my son yrs ago they were telling me in my scans (I was high risk so a scan every 3weeks) he would be big around 9p as I was huge yet he was 6days before his due date an only 7p so scans can always be wrong. But they should of done a scan before now i would think to check bub was ok, I'm not sure where you live im in AUS so might be different here.

My advice is just keep your earlier date in mind an make sure you have bags an stuff ready for before then just in case, babys come when they want to anyway so I wouldn't stress about it to much just go with the flow.

Could be possible you ovulated later on in your cycle?? thats what happens to me but i ovulate earlier so I'm further along than what my lmp date was but I have pcos same thing with my son i was further along that what my lmp said due to when I actually ovulated an I was on clomid for him to make me ovulate, an I had him early than the date i was given.

Thank you so much. My mom even told me to go by LMP because a 5mth ultrasound scan can be way off. My baby head been down since 24 weeks and she's still head down. I'm having pelvic pressure and can feel every movement with her head and it hurts. I get like these lighting in my crotch. I will definitely not stress on the ultrasound I feel better going by LMP

I always go by my LMP. My periods are very predictable. If I went by my sonograms, I would always be a week behind, and then have HUGE babies ;) Example: I measured a week behind at my last appt, but my kids have been 8lb when I deliver at 39 weeks.

Thank you for the replies. This is so bothering me alot. With LMP dd is 12 may and with the ultrasound I did at 5mth dd is 23 may. Did anyone baby actually come on the LMP dd or even close?

I’d be preparing for the early date... I didn’t and my son came 3weeks 4d early yes I had everything set up and done... but I wasn’t mentally ready and my mind was so out of control for three days lol...

My dates ended up being different too. I use the ultrasound date because My doc said it measures more accurately. So I’m one week further along than my LMP says. Maybe it’s better to prepare for the earlier date anyway, just so you’re not caught off guard?
