I'm a FTM n I wont be circumcising (sp?) our son just because his dad said it's not necessary. I have no clue abt these things tho lol

I’ve got 3 boys and none of them had the snip. Just saying in my point of view, when I first had my son, I had to have the snip down there cos it was a little tight and he couldn’t get through, it hurt ? I knew when the nurse was gonna snip me and I could feel it. So that’s why I didn’t do it with my boys ? but that’s just me and how I felt

To the original poster. Research, and please don't use the "I let my husband decide cause he has a penis" thing. If he hasn't researched the risks, deaths (approx 100 a year in the US from circ complications), accidents, botched circs (alot!), if he hasn't watch a circumcision being performed (you tube), if he hasn't spent some time researching for your sons surgery, he doesn't "know" anything and is basing his decision on completely uneducated bias.

If this was a heart surgery you'd be all over Google finding info, positive and negative and asking experts and getting second opinions, you, mom, asked here to get some advice, a starting place. Great, how much research did hubby do if he might make this decision? If the answer is he looked at his own penis, that's kinda pathetic.

Ps. My hubby also had to have a botched circ attempted to be corrected as an adult. Definitely sucked, also didn't work so he'd need another 2 surgeries and probably a skin graft to be able to eventually live pain free (cause he's not now). But that's a lot of surgeries to correct a screw up, and a lot of time off work, etc etc. (Notice it's His problem, but his parents let it happen to him? think they know or care? Nope. Just like if your adult son has issues, you made the decision now it's his to live with whatever the outcome. I believe it should 've the parents financial responsibility to pay for any potential issues any adult child has, and should be illegal not to inform the child's as such by a certain age, cause men tend to just suck it up and suffer in silence, which is not right or fair. You allow an unnecessary surgery, you should be responsible for it for life.)

Adult circs, could potentially suck, but in comparison, the brain damage Proven to happen when a baby is circed is undeniable science. As an adult you have a say, choice, understanding of the process, pain management a baby will Never get. You could stay as high as a kite for a month if need be. Adult circs are more accurate as the penis is full sized, less damaging cause the foreskin has already naturally (hopefully no one was tearing it down when they were young!) pulled away from the shaft (it's basically attached like a fingernail to the skin beneath for the first couple years, so imagine having a stick shoved between your nail and slide back and forth til the nail losened from the skin, that's the Start of what a baby feels) adults won't have that attached and won't have the scar tissue from the healing of that huge wound over top of the actual hacking off of the foreskin around the shaft.

Also.. it's super sexist. We protect our girls, even from a little pin prick some cultures call a circumcision (I absolutely acknowledge the fact that some female circs are totally straight up mutilation and am not condoning). But our boys loose 1000s of nerve ending, the equivalent of about 2 feet of flesh (as an adult male), protect for the sensitive glands inside, are subjected to a painful cosmetic surgery without a medical reason (despite "do no harm" being a drs mantra) and we are ok with this? We are ok not protecting our sons as we do our daughters?! Are they less worthy? Less important? Are they too stupid to learn to clean properly? Is it more important that the future women in their lives think it's pretty? Or that you put your son and not some unknown woman or matching father/son penises first.

Busymom that's actually inaccurate if you are a Christian. Galatians 5 talks about Christ being the last blood sacrifice and circumcision being unnecessary and that if you circumcise on the basis of salvation then you'd better follow every other old testament rule there is too, as your choosing to follow the old covenant not the new.

My grandfather was not circumcised and had to get it done as an adult. He urged all of us to have our boys circumcised. He died when I was 3. However, my grandmother is still alive and remembers how he felt and the issues it caused having it done later.

Did a bunch of research and talked to he husband about what he thought we should do. We decided that it was cosmetic and didn’t get our boy circumcised. My husband is.

Both my boys are circumcised and this one will be too. My husband is not so with our first we talked about it and decided to do it.

We circumcised my son. My husband is circumcised and is Jewish so it wasn't much of a conversation. I went into room with my son when they did it. It was very quick and he only cried when they took him out of the blanket just from the shock of being cold. He healed very quickly and it never seemed to bother him. I do think that it helps to discuss it with the daddy though...good luck with your decision.

All three of my boys are. I left it up to SO but we both think it's better to do it while they were babies and won't remember it rather than having them have to deal w it when they are older. Plus our pediatrician said it was much cleaner than not doing it

My son is circumcised. This baby is a girl but if I have any more boys, they will be too. I don't have anything against uncut, but for me and my so circumcision is just our opinion.

I circumcised my first son & this when this son is born, he will be as well. Mostly, his Dad is circumcised so he wants his boys to be as well also I wanted it done for spiritual reasons. It wasn't bad at all (I cried more than he did) and it healed very quickly and nicely

I’m opposed to routine cosmetic circumcision - luckily not too common here in Australia. My SO was circumcised at age 3 for medical reasons, I would be open to *considering* circumcision if our son needed it for similar reasons.

Both of my boys were not... with the first I said yes until they took him out of the room and I started bawling! It’s really not necessary and we haven’t had any hygiene problems.

Our 4yr old is intact and this boy will be left intact as well. There’s just no need for circumcision. It’s not anymore hygienic (just wipe it like a finger!) and is becoming way less prevalent. In the US rates are less than 50% so by the time my boys are old enough it won’t be unusual to be intact. My DS is 4 and has never had any infections or other issues with his penis.

My DH is also intact but even if he wasn’t it wouldn’t change our decision. I’ve never understood the look like daddy argument because my boy is also significantly lighter (in skin tone) than daddy and doesn’t have hair like daddy. So it’s not like they’ll ever look that much alike regardless of circumcision.

It's very uncommon in Australia now except for religious reasons. I would never circumcise this baby if it's a boy. We're taught in birth classes that infant penises need as much cleaning as their elbows, and that pulling the skin back is like pulling off a fingernail. The skin doesn't start to retract until they're older and can be shown to take care of it themselves.

I left it up to my husband when our son was born. The doctor who did it didn’t take much off. I don’t know if this is why, but he kept healing over and every doctors appointment it had to be yanked back *shudder*. No matter how diligent I was about it. His pediatrician actually said he doesn’t even look circumcised.

So I had my mind made up. If we have another boy I will not do it.

I didn't circumcise our son. I felt that causing a newborn baby unnecessary pain was next to child abuse. And also removing things that aren't broken doesn't make any logical sense. I also think the comparisons to daddy are SO weird. Me and my daughters don't compare vulvas, ya know? Anyway, he's uncut, we'll teach him how to clean and care for himself, just like we have our daughters. And basically, he was born perfect, no scalpels needed ??

I am a ftm as well and I'm in the US. We aren't finding out the gender until birth but if it's a boy we will be circumcising. My SO feels strongly about it and I always hear about the hygiene issues that could arise if it's not done and not cleaned properly. I've also heard it's very painful to get it done as an adult and I wouldn't want him to have to go through it later (I've talked to a few guys who weren't but chose to do it as an adult) but I am aware that it isn't common to some nationalities or in some countries and respect their input so I'll be following just to hear viewpoints ☺️

i have circumcised my 14 year old and my 2 1/2 year old and when boy #3 gets here we will do it to him as well their dad is uncircumcised and their dad decided that he wanted all his boys to be it's a different choice for every momma good luck and just remember it's your choice and you will make the right one for your baby

I am opposite. I left this decision up to my fiancé when my son was born. Since he is circumcised, our son is circumsized. My son actually just recently mentioned how he looks like daddy and it made him proud. Being 5, he obviously doesn't know of anything different. We had no issues and it was fast and easy to clean and heal.

We have a boy and believe it’s a cosmetic decision. God placed you on this earth with it, and it does no harm. Why take it away? Just have to make sure it’s always cleaned really well no matter which way you go.

In New Zealand it's not really common to get boys circumcised, They are born with it so why take it off. I have 3 boys. That's my opinion :) .
