what do you do???
I'm at my wits ends with dd. She's almost 4 and every meal is a 2 hour battle for her to eat! She just sits there and plays around in her chair. Playing with the plays the cup everything!! I let her choose what to eat. I ask " do you want eggs or oatmeal for breakfast" today She chose eggs. She's still sitting there it's been 45 min. and she's still not even half way done. This has been going on for the past two weeks!!

When she is hungry she will eat. I would set a reasonable time for her to eat, like 20-30 minutes, then let her get up. Don't offer or allow her food again until the next regular meal or snack time. Food can turn into a real control issue with kids so I would suggest being calm and don't make a big deal of it.

My kids do this every so often (usually just before a growth spurt). I just let them pick at their plate and when they say they're full, they're done. BUT I also will not give them a snack if they say they're hungry 5 or 10 minutes later, they get what was left on their plate. It usually only lasts a week or 2 and then they're back to eating full meals and snacking non-stop.
