You don't. She's 11 months old. She doesn't know how to listen. You redirect, you show her what to do and what not to do and keep doing it repeatedly (over time not in that moment). She will learn. Eventually.

I was trying to find the article I read that said it takes over 100 times of repetition to teach a child under 1. Repetition and ci consistency. Redirect. Get her mind on something else. She has two things your older daughter doesnt have: an older sister to observe and an older sister to distract mom.

It’s best not to use the word “no” for a child that age unless they’re in danger. Try to redirect behavior instead. They’re not intentionally being bad, just learning cause and effect. They honestly have no clue that they’re supposed to listen to you. Their main goal is to have fun and play.

I'll move her away from what shes not suppose to be touching and she keeps going right back to it

@ambermarieeee, That sounds like normal behavior for that age. I know it’s frustrating but try to remember that she’s not intentionally trying to be bad. No need to discipline, just remain consistent. In a few months maybe. But not at 11 months where she can barely communicate.

I'm not saying discipline as in hitting cause I would NEVER hit my kids. I was abused real bad as a child so smacking my kid is the last resort.!! I just didnt know if there was an easier way to get her to stop or not. And as for the comment of "dont have kids close in age" my oldest daughter is not bad was not bad at 11 months, shes 3 now and still listens when I tell her no without hitting her.

I think that you can't really discipline an 11 month old. They're still too young and don't really understand anything. I don't think an 11 month old can act "bad"

Op- sorry your post got hijacked. It's hard to watch someone who treats their kids so poorly give advice.

I hope you take to heart the good advice here as much was given to you

Yet I bet if someone hit her to teach a lesson she’d be charging them with assault...but it’s ok to pop her child one...hmm makes sense eh..assault and abuse is the same you can’t pick and choose which is ok. Who hits a baby. FYI 11 month olds are damn babies.

At 11 months, they’re still so young. They don’t know how to communicate just yet, and sometimes their behavior is their way of communicating. Whether it is to get your attention or just curiosity about the world around them.

My daughter is 18 months. I change the tone of my voice ( no, i dont mean yelling either ) and speak to her that way when i am disciplining her. I explain to her the why she should and shouldnt do things. She now understands if she has done something wrong. I can see from her expression that she knows she’s done something bad sometimes her eyes even get watery 😭 which breaks my heart when i see that. It gets repetitive but i really do not think hitting or scaring your child is a better way of discipline. They eventually will understand and get the grasp of things.

Get down on their level and talk to them if you don’t get down to their level you’re not respecting them and as far as discipline goes she’s not even 1 yet babies don’t have a grasp on what’s okay and what’s not. If she’s doing something she’s not supposed to be doing remove her from what it is and firmly say NO and give her something to play with

Listen. It has NOTHING to do with having them close in age, thank you! My oldest daughter was not like this so this is new to me! I would tell her no and she would listen. I dont need help.😂😂 and when I asked about discipline I didnt mean smacking my kids. I would never hit my kids after being abused real bad myself.👏

There really is no "discipline" for an. 11month old. I pop my son on the hand when I tell him no an he looks at me and does it again but that's all I do! He is 15 months old

@brittandchris11, You’re so ignorant if you think @laniejay not hitting and abusing her kids mean they’ll get away with everything. Go take a parenting class, shit take a child development class. Educate yourself. Do better.

is it wrong to be frustrated that my daughter acts like she can't do certain things with out my help. she plays dumb a lot and I wish I could be like no girl show what you know. she acts like she can't trace or match shapes so shes ask for "mommy finger" to help her so I barely hold her hand and she magically can do it but if I dont hold her hand she just scribbles and acts like she doesnt know the pic is how she traces when I'm "helping her" otherwise it'll just be scribbles all over the page

when a mom on preggie is looking for a handout and giving all these reasons she needs it.. so I go to check out her YouTube and she has a phone that's more new than mine, talking about why she doesn't even know why she needs a psychologist, and talking about how she needs her SSI check so they can go where ever they want.. you and your transgender "baby" or whoever was in the car next to you. I'm insulted.. I was going to try and help you but not give you money.. and I would've been taken advantage of.. not to mention that you laughed about being chained to a tree.. these mom's were all offering to help you, give you one on one advice.. and some had harsh things to say.. but how rude is it that you proved us all right. regardless, I hope you find some guidance one day and if you are pregnant, since you didn't take a legit preg test (you used sugar and toothpaste and piss in a cup), then I hope your baby saves you from yourself. #prayersupfolks
