It's Time
Well I decided it's time to start the weaning process. I'm a gentle parent so after lots of considering I decided the best option was to try and dry up my milk while explaining to my son that babas are going away and won't make milk much longer. I'm having peppermint altoids every hour and drinking lots of sage and parsley tea. I'm still letting him nurse but just reminding him that soon the milk will be gone. I think he's beginning to understand and it could still be awhile before my milk goes away. I wish I didn't have to but I can't imagine waiting much longer to give him a sibling. He will be 22 mo in a few days so I'm proud that we have made it so far. I hope doing it very gradually works out for the best.
Sometimes Cameron will nurse but not fall asleep and will let me read. To him and pat his back til he is asleep. But most nights it doesn't work like that. I wish I knew what made the difference. He will fall asleep for naptime without it and without crying if he knows I am not in the house but bedtime not so much. Good luck to you. Thanks for the updates. I keep telling myself the longer we go the harder it will be .....
I've decided to buy him a special night time sippy cup to fill with water at night. He only has straw sippy cups so I'll get him one with a spout that's easier to use laying down. I'm also going to try patting his back or tummy while he falls asleep.
He does great in his bed but the past two nights he's been waking up every 1-2 hours asking to nurse and then gets 3-4 hours of good sleep right before he's up for the day. I'm not sure how to get him to sleep longer during the first part of the night. I'm afraid I'm going to have to just make him stop cold turkey but I really don't want to do that. I started using his humidifier again for background noise and it helps a little, but it hasn't done the trick. I'll keep you updated if I come up with anything else. I wish he could try falling asleep another way for me. One night I explained that baba was broken so he asked for water and fell asleep but it didn't last long enough. I think part of the problem is that he's not getting enough milk to be satisfied and I don't want to give cow's milk at night. I'll probably just keep trying with water.
Still no AF but I've been having watery cm and today it's ewcm. My opks aren't there yet, but hopefully soon. My son is doing great. I took another big leap and separated our beds. We're still in the same room but he now sleeps in his toddler bed. I get up to nurse him when he asks and tonight wasn't as great as the night before but overall it's good. He hasn't asked to sleep with me at all and loves his new bed so much!
He used to wake between 2-5 times but now it's no more than three. I also separated our beds tonight, I had the crib with the side down next to my bed. I explained to him his bed and my bed. He normally has a three hour nap and wakes a few times or wants to stay attached to nurse. Today he only had a one hour nap and didn't nurse after falling asleep. I just put him down in his bed for the night so it'll suck waking up but I'm still in the bed across the room. Hopefully it goes well.
That's how Grayson is and that's why I'm trying to take it slow. This past week he has been nursing a lot less for naps and at night. Normally during his nap he wakes up at least three times to nurse but only once today (3 hour nap).
I haven't been engorged in over a year so I'm lucky there. You could try to dry up your supply and that might help you both. I won't let my son cry for baba so I let him nurse even though he's not getting much. I think I might have to try cabbage as well since he's still getting milk. I really want it to dry up soon. He's doing great and sleeping longer periods at nap time and during the night. I keep telling him baba is going away soon and I think he gets it. I wish I could just let him self wean but my body won't let me regain my fertility unless he does. I'm hoping he weans soon.
It's a work in progress but I think it's working. He is asking to nurse during the day and I honestly believe it's because he realizes my supply is going away and he's trying to increase it. I've been able to distract him though. Tonight he tried nursing but eventually just rolled over since he wasn't getting much milk. It took awhile to get him to sleep but he didn't cry and that's what's important to me. He will drink regular milk sometimes but he doesn't see it as a substitute for breast milk. He's never taken a bottle and I wouldn't introduce one now. I think soon he'll just realize the milk is gone but he still has me. I'll keep you guys updated!
We are approaching 20 months. Everytime we start to make progress he gets sick. I am afraid of cutting him off cold turkey and I do t think I have the heart to do it. My husband works out of town so I am tortured by the process. I am interested to see how this works. Keep us posted if you dont mind.
Also does your son drink non boob milk? Mine won't and I am convinced if he did weaning would be easier.
Good luck!
My mom thinks that my extended breastfeeding is selfish. She believes I'm only doing it because I'm lazy or that I want my son to continue to be a baby. She says I need to pump or give him milk from a cow. My milk is the best thing for him and I want my baby to have the best. I know that nursing him comforts him and I don't want to take that away. I would love to just pour milk in a cup and go about my day.. but I'm doing this so my baby can have the best. What's selfish about that?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
Okay ladies I need advice. My husband came home from work a few weeks ago and decided he no longer wanted to be a husband or father. He told me that the kids and I need to leave and if we dont he will no longer pay the Bill's. I am unable to work because of high risk pregnancy. My only option is to move back to ohio and stay with my parents. (We live in Kentucky now) also last weekend I was admitted to the hospital and he was home with the kids...he decided to just walk out and leave them home a...
I'm so hurt I lost my baby. I'm 35 weeks this is the worst feeling ever. I waited 8 months to hold love n care for him and he past away. even worst I have to carry him inside me till my body decide I have him.
Try mixing up some lavender oil with coconut oil and rubbing it on his chest, back, and feet before bed. I started doing that every night and we went from waking every 2-3 hours to only waking 1-2 times during the night!
