I heard also you weren't supposed to use DEET that its harmful. Dallas I looked up only had one case. Didn't mean to freak anyone out that is what my Dr told me yesterday

My doctor hasn't even mentioned Zika to me and I live in Texas. If you look at the recent findings on the CDC dates april 26,2017 there are plenty of states with the virus. Florida and New York come in the highest at over 1,000. I would just make sure you have bug spray.

My doctor told me to use deep woods Off this summer. He definitely recommended using bug spray with DEET

My dr. told me to use deet free, but I also don't live in a state that is at risk for zika, so that could be why. Just searched Google and most sites say repellant with 10 percent deet it safe for pregnant women.

The only way to guarantee not getting bitten, is to use a bug spray WITH deet. It is safe to use during pregnancy. The non deet sprays don't work 100%. Deet also repels ticks? which can cause all sorts of other problems...

I live in Dallas it's because we have a very diverse population and a major airport people are coming everyday from all over the world I personally hate Living here we have had Ebola and Zika but Zika is the least of your problems when you're here we have had 7 shooting situations in past 2 days a few of them requiring swat and a few resulting in deaths the wealthy neighborhoods and wealthy population distract from the fact that it's an over populated high crime city.

@Rlh I was on the phone crying because of the shooting that happened this morning! I live in Irving so most of my friend are a north lake college and two of my little cousins! We couldn't get in contact with my younger cousin so I was just on the news making sure there wasn't anymore victims! Never though that would hit home. They go to college to further their education and they can't be safe anymore?! I was angry worried and sad all at the same time. I just got news my cousins made it home safe but not being able to hear from them for hours was nerve wrecking. And there really is a lot of chaos in this city?

@glowing it really is so sad I would like to move back to my hometown which is small and safe I just don't know if I want my baby growing up here I live in Euless so not far from you I have dfw scanner on my Facebook so I can be updated on what's happening around me I haven't felt relaxed since the shooting downtown last year I can't even go there now the tall buildings give me anxiety now.

I live in Houston which is far more humid then Dallas and surprisingly my Doctor hasn't even mentioned the zika virus to me. Like others have said I think it's more of an issue with the high traffic airports then an actual outbreak within the state. Enjoy your stay and have fun and don't stress too much.

@glow my husband will be working in Irving! I've been searching good school districts and found that Allen seem to be pretty good. Any idea on how long commute will be during traffic? (Irving to Allen) sorry to OP for having side conversation lol

Right now at 7pm Allen to Irving is almost 50min I would add some time at higher traffic times (time frame according to my maps on phone)

I agree with @rlp about 50min+ with traffic! And the best way to get to Irving to Allen without getting so much traffic would be either taking PGBK and that's a toll way actually going anywhere in this city requires toll ways! ? Irving ISD is an ok district but if you look into Las Colinas (North Irving) everything is really good! North Hills preparatory is such a good school it is from grades K-12. I am looking into enrolling my son there, I don't think I can do Irving ISD public schools.

Yes! Flower Mound is a really nice, good area about 20-30 minutes away! How exciting! When are you moving? Although with all that is going on I love this city. Definitely my second home, I'm originally from San Antonio.

Coppell has great school district too and close to Irving.
