Is there any mommy's on here that used to be or is on Government Assistance? And knows if they cover breast pumps?

Ya I just got back on it. They give me like $30 for food. But you do have to be breast feeding only. Its a nice electric pump. It came with some bottles and nipples like I said it helps out alot. I went into the office to apply it was a single page application and I took in my taxes. Good luck

Well that's how I got the insurance to begin with, I went to the website and went through an online process to see if I qualified to be on the insurance. But once we tried WIC it denied us. Maybe I will try calling and find out, because we just not too long ago bought a house (been here a few months now) so maybe that would give us a better chance to be apart of WIC.

That's weird I've never heard about signing up online if you go into the wic office all you need is your Medicaid card and they will set you up don't need to prove income or anything at least in Texas...

I have upmc for you (Pennsylvania Medicaid) and I was able to get a pump. I told the pediatrician I needed a pump and was sent one the very next day. I don't know if it's a requirement to have a script from a doctor but that helped me get mine. It is a pump in style advance ( medela)

I just updated about it, I called today : )

I have health net in California and they cover one to a certain cost but your dr has to write a prescription for it.. just Google your insurance threw the state and call the number and ask.. they will let you know for sure

WIC does cover pumps, I received a pump from them when I had my first son. I believe you have to be exclusively breast feeding though

We were not eligible my fiancé made too much money, so the web site said when I initially signed up

Either way because you have Medicaid your automatically eligible for wic

Thankfully my insurance covers my pump of choice!!!

I will be a stay at home mom and do not have WIC so I'm thankful that they do! So glad I won't have to shell out the money for a good electric pump!

With my first the WIC gave me a breast pump. It was nice saved my some money. I live in NM.

I know with Ohio MedicAid I am going to be able to get a free double electric pump provided through insurance..just gotta call them and get them to mail it to my house. I even get to pick it. I'm getting the Medela one since I got some accessories for it from the baby shower. I don't know if the wide choices are because of the expanded MedicAid that was approved in Ohio, or because of the ACA in general, because I know from that they are requiring all insurances to cover breast pumps. Best way to find out is ask!

What state are you in? I don't have WIC..I'm going to be a stay at home mom..I'm really hoping my mother in law is right about what she heard.

If you get WIC they will give you a pump, but you have to attend a BF and BF for 6 weeks

I'm in ks..mine was free. I just called the number on the back of my card and asked :-)

I'm hoping I can get one through my insurance. I did hear that every plan has changed and are now covering electric pumps

Нравится Ответить

I know it is expensive, but the reality is a good pump is still cheaper than formula. I got the Medela freestyle. Totally worth every penny.

I totally forgot yeah Because that makes sense, because pumps would go under the category of nutrition if I'm correct? And me not having WIC may just be a problem. ..well yeah like I said I will find out tomorrow morning.

Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks ladies!! Appreciate it

I am in Pennsylvania and do not have WIC :-/ I'm thinking I may not be able too then, will find out tomorrow morning when I call!

The WIC program provides breast pumps here in IL you just have to take your medical card up after you have the baby.

Нравится Ответить

I have tricare and they don't cover breast pumps and we receive wic and the only way they provide them is if you are away from baby for more than 6 hours a day...meaning you have a job and most likely wouldn't qualify for wic if so lol

Нравится Ответить

Call your medical insurance and ask them of they cover them. If they do they will provide you with their suppliers. Then you'd call the supplier and they let you know which ones you have to choose from. Then order.

Нравится Ответить

I believe if you receive WIC you can get a pump.

Нравится Ответить

Are you on wic? A lady from wic told me to let her know if I need one

Нравится Ответить

I think it depends on what state your in, but i know where i live the only way to get one thru state funded insurance is if your child is medically un able to breast feed or the baby is in the hospital. But I'm sure when you call they will be able to shed some light on it for you. Good luck dear
