most WIC offices offer a breast pump to breastfeeding mommas, I got a double electric breast pump with my son when he was born 3yrs ago from the WIC office, they also give u vouchers to help with certain foods, like eggs, milk, cheese, bread ect.
how do you get on wic @haleylove2011 because when I applied for medicaid I checked the box that says do you want to apply for that too but they took so long even getting my medicaid out to me that I gave up on that
I just checked with WIC last week, in person, and no, they do not cover breast pumps. You may be able to rent one if you go to school full time though..
I saw an Ameda pump at Walmart for a little over $100 which doesn't seem bad. My friend has one from Ameda and says the hospital even recommended it to her.
@peanuts1mom, I went to the health department whom had a wic office and signed up right then. they did a pregnancy test to confirm pregnancy and had wic coupons that day :)
is it scary meeting these people? and having to have appointments with them? I'm kind of an introvert ;-; meeting people and having appointments and stuff scares me Dx
go to the wic office and tell them u r pregnant and need of wic assistance and they will ask u a few questions, u fill out a form, give them 2 forms of ID and ur insurance card I believe and u will have a meeting with a wic office worker and they will get u set up with wic, just tell them u will be breastfeeding and u will need a breast pump and they will talk to u from there
@jasminemaye, if you're looking for an electric pump, they're probably going to be above 100 no matter what. (Unless you rent one- which could cost more in the long run.) Manual pumps are much cheaper- and some moms like them better. But if you're planning on pumping everyday, and long term breast feeding (for a year or more) electric really would be the way to go. A little over $100 being honestly fairly inexpensive considering how expensive babies are in general.. Good luck.
@jasminemaye, did you receive a pump from Wic before? If you haven't they provide you one through state insurance. Call your local Wic office or just go there and tell them your situation. They really want people to breastfeed so they can tell you all your options. Also on facebook there's groups like mommy's thrifty finds and Im sure you can find a cheap breast pump on there. You will just have to buy new tubing etc..! The tubing and stuff comes all together for 20$ on Amazon. Which is way cheaper than buying from anywhere else because they have you buy everything separately.
If you are on medicaid you should be able to get one for free I did they have sent it to me already. it's was a nature's best and thank God they did that thing was almost $400.

ask your local Wic office. If you have state insurance and it's your first child they will give a breast pump. :)
