A lot of it depends on if you have any pregnancy complications that require you to be on bed rest. Usually your dr will tell you when you should stop working and take it easy. Some women work up until they have the baby. As for after the baby is born, they usually say 6 weeks. I'm not sure of any programs though :/

Per FMLA I will have 12 weeks unpaid leave, I will qualify for short term disability which is 65% of my pay. Work files for me. I am working until the day I go into labor if I can so i can have all 12 weeks at home with baby.

See if your work has short term disability that should help

I took 13 weeks total. 1 week before baby and then 12 weeks after she was here. I had taken 12 weeks of FMLA but daycare wouldn't let my daughter start until a week after I was supposed to go back so they let me have that extra week

I'm talking 12 months maternity leave. This is unpaid leave by my employer. However, the Australian government pays you 18 weeks maternity at the rate of minimum wage but it is taxable. I think I'll get roughly $9,000 for the 18 weeks. My husband is entitled to two weeks paid parental leave so he will take that and possibly use some annual leave as well. I've just commenced my leave. I'm 36 weeks.

At my work (in the USA) they have temporary disability for 6 weeks. 2 weeks unpaid and 4 weeks at 66.6% of pay. But u can use paid time off for those 2 weeks. They really need to get with the program and let mommies have worry free time off with pay. Maybe look into your works temporary disability? My work doesn't call it maternity leave.

I went on maternity leave when I was pregnant with my son at 7 months as I had trouble with my hips so I couldn't do my job. I had the 8 weeks after I had him too. He was 6 weeks early. I ended up staying home with him for 2years. This baby I will do 8 weeks. Depending on how it goes, hoping he/she isn't to early. We don't have paid leave (we have sick and Vaca but that's it. We have Afleck through our work which covers like disability so that will cover my maternity leave or I'd I have complications and have to go on leave early. But you have to be on it for 6 months before. I have had it for 1 1/2 so I'm good.

Just be careful. My work offers a deal with an insurance company for short term disability but they don't offer it if you are already pregnant. You need to have gotten into it atleast 10 months before the baby was born. Sadly I got benefits (health insurance, vacation time, etc) about 8 weeks into my pregnancy, so when I take maternity leave it will be all unpaid.

Im in Aus - finishing up 4 weeks before baby is due and get 18 weeks paid leave - then going back 3 days a week after that!
