Maternity leave
So most of us already are in the last weeks of our pregnancies and I will like to know at how many weeks is your doctor taking you out of work and how is the process of it

@snieves that only applies to NY residents not NJ unfortunately. Also the pay is only 60% of your pay.

I'm in Australia and I start my mat leave in 3 weeks I'll be 36 weeks.
I've got the start booked with holidays, so my mat leave officially starts in march, then I get 24weeks at half pay but can take up to 2yrs off (the rest being unpaid)
I'm taking a year off.
Once my half pay finishes though, I will be receiving payments from our government for 18 weeks! The payment is for any mother (married or not) that has worked more than 12 months. So I'm basically covered for pay until I go back to work ?
I definitely feel lucky that I can be home with baby for that first year and it won't be hard financially.

36-39 weeks off and paid???? That like really good❤️. Here we get 6 weeks before due date and 8 after( 14 weeks full paid) than we have to return but only half your shift that can not be more than 4 hrs. Until baby it’s 6 months old. And than you can have 1 hour reduction until baby it’s 2 years old for breastfeeding. But I live in the 3rd world lol. ??? I wish we can have something similar to what the Uk girls have.

1/19 is my last day...I’ll be on disability pay until I have her then starts my 12 weeks paid maternity leave (new California law extended it from 6 weeks to to 12 weeks this year !) then I’m taking 6 weeks baby bonding ...so I’ll be back to work around June

I get 6 weeks after baby is born. I was already off for a month when I first got diagnosed with preeclampsia. They were complaining about the overtime to fill my spot and threatening to stop my pay though, which means I would lose my insurance. I've been back part time about 3 weeks. I just do morning paperwork. Mainly because my assistant was making so many mistakes. Luckily I'm on salary so I do get my full pay.

@sammicorreamama is this also apply for New Jersey? My doctor took me out today of work officially , she signed the papers and put that my last day was today and that I should return 3/28 but I'm not that actually sure how all this works . I know I have to go on Friday to work to sign in their part and then I guess I have to send them in but idk the process and I'm afraid that they don't actually accept it and don't give me the help

Starting 2018 New York is now offering up to 8 weeks paid so that I will be taking with probably two additional weeks ! Very excited with my first I was only aloud 6 weeks paid n only took 8 weeks yay happy new year ! Lmao

They said when I leave at the end of this week, I can stay off until October but can't mind what date.
deleted-user·
@89andy yes same here! I have 39... think it must vary per employer!
deleted-user·

deleted-user·
I'm working until my water breaks. I have 6 weeks unpaid leave so I need all the money I can get but I wish I could take more time off.

Glitch
deleted-user·
12 weeks UNPAID, at that!?
deleted-user·
Yip I'm also glad us UK girls get 36 weeks paid work off for maternity leave. Really feel for you US girls who only get 12 weeks off ???❤️ xx
Samantha Nieves·
So I went to my app today and she took me out of work completely today and put the returning date to work as 3/28. I'm happy because I get to stay home and relax ( because at my job I was doing a lot of bending and carrying heavy stuffs) but I'm scare that I don't get the benefits and I stay broke ?
deleted-user·
@rissallen26 in the US we get FMLA up to 12 weeks UNPAID. Some companies offer paid maternity leave (6 weeks for vaginal birth and 8 weeks for csection). It truly sucks that is not enough time to bond with child.
deleted-user·
Yea those of us in the US have to get stingy unless you happen to work for a company that provides mat leave...?
I get paid sickness and accident until my dr releases me then I can use the remainder of my unpaid 12 weeks FMLA, so I’m trying to hold out til the last week.
deleted-user·
I have an appointment tomorrow and I’m hoping my doctor will put me off on short term illness.. my hip pain is so bad I can barely walk. If she puts me off I’ll stay on short term with full pay until the baby is born and then my 12 month mat leave will start.
deleted-user·
I started mine last week my job was way 2 demanding but I officially don't start until the 18th because I had so many holidays to use up now I have 9month off could take the year but the last 3 month would be unpaid
deleted-user·
I’ve been on paid holiday leave since beginning of Dec but my maternity leave starts today at exactly 36w. ?
I get 39/52 weeks with pay- (gets lower as time goes on but starts at full) I was originally going to go back after the 39 but I want this precious year with baby so having a few months unpaid! I didn’t realise how different things were in the States! X
deleted-user·
Wow 12 weeks!!. I feel very lucky that we get 36 weeks paid leave here in the UK. I would still be in work now if we only got 12 weeks leave just to get all the precious time with baby. That’s such short time for you who live is the USA ??. Do you get fully paid for those 12 weeks? Xx
deleted-user·
I’m going 1/18 I’ll be 38weeks
deleted-user·
I'm out now.... Have been out since 12/26... Won't go back until 5/1 I get paid for 6 months!!
deleted-user·
I got denied for fmla bc I havent been on my job for a year yet. But I do still get short term disability which will only be about 8 weeks so I have to work until my due date
deleted-user·
I cut my days to part time last month and now I’m just going by how I feel ??♀️ it’s nice to get out of the house (I have a 2 1/2 year old,) but working is becoming a lot of work lol
Samantha Nieves·
She told me 2 weeks ago she wants me out at 34 weeks due to my diabetes and that I'm insulin dependent . Tomorrow she is going to fill out my paper work , what I don't get is why she didn't fill it out earlier and waited till I'm 33 weeks to do it .
deleted-user·
My OB filled my FMLA paperwork out today. My job requires us to turn paperwork in 30 days prior. Like I know when my daughter is going to make her arrival. I just wanted paperwork in early because you never know. Anyways she put the standard 6 weeks if vaginal birth and 8 weeks if csection barring complications. I’m going to try to stay until my due date 2/24.
deleted-user·
My due date is 2/7 and my scheduled last day is 2/9. I want 12 weeks home with baby girl after she is born.
deleted-user·
39weeks
deleted-user·
I am working up to my date if god is willing to let me. I need to save my time for when she get here
deleted-user·
Well because I'm having twins my doctor told me today that I should probably stop working in 2 weeks. So I will be a bit over 35 weeks. They want me to rest more. She was surprised that I'm still working lol. But it's only a couple days a week for 6 hours a day. I will be having my twins at 38 weeks
deleted-user·
I’m working until my due date
deleted-user·
Today was my last day...Thank GOD! I drive a bus (public trans). The Drs wanted me to stop last week because it's becoming a tight squeeze to get in and out of the drivers seat ?. I told them to wait until today so I can collect all of my holiday pay,you have to work the day before and day after to get your full pay....mission accomplished! ???Now I can finish my nursery!!?
deleted-user·
You UK folks are making me jealous...i've been sick for over a week, but refuse to take off because I'm trying to save my paid time off for maternity leave after the baby is here.
deleted-user·
Friday is my last day and i will be 36 weeks (37 with the new date they gave me)
deleted-user·
In the US we can take only up to 12 weeks so I plan on working as much as I can so that I can enjoy the 12 weeks after the little one is here.
Samantha Nieves·
Lucky ladies lol Tomorrow i have my appointment with my gyno and she told me to take in the papers so she can fill them out . I will be 33 weeks tomorrow and she told me 2 weeks ago that she will take me out at 34 due to my diabetes and because she wants me to relax as much as I can . I can't wait for her to take me out since starting next week I have to go 2 times a weeks for sonograms and monitoring since I'm insulin dependent ? @rissallan26 @hopefulforbfp

I finish up with my work on Saturday. I'll be 35+2. I could have left a little earlier (I'm in the uk) but decided to hang on a little longer so chose this to be my last week. Some relaxing time until baby is delivered around 39 weeks ?
deleted-user·
I have just finished work now ? I chose to leave myself at start maternity leave in the UK you can start leave from 11 weeks till due date. I’m so ready to relax until baby is here.
