Heather, she's probably still to small to be in the Ergo without an insert. I would look at some gauze wraps. They are fairly cheap but will work well while she's so small and you can do back carries eventually with it.

Tiff....yup same thing. I have some big kids in a few of my videos ;)

I haven't read the other comments, but I have an ergo...

I used the ergo with the infant insert a couple of times but it gets so hot! Even At the grocery store.

My friend told me I can just use the pillow from the insert to carry lo, but she is only 9 lbs so I get worried she will slip out. Any suggestions to help us keep cool? (She got heat rash really bad the last time we used it ) :(

Squishy, so I have spent like an hour on YouTube checking out all these different Back wraps for baby, pretty neat! =)

But quick question- my lo will be one in a few weeks, he's a hefty 30lbs 32 inches tall, all the wrap videos I found were for little ones , 6 months and under. I'm assuming it's the same thing though, right?!

And a good carrier that would grow with him??

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Most of my back wrap videos I do a Santa toss of just search YouTube for "Santa toss"

I have no clue what a Santa toss is "/ when I wanna wear him on my back, I get someone else to stick him in for me ?

What's a good YouTube vid?!

I just didnt find them to be that comfortable. I've tried both. I'm pretty picky about SSC's. I'm having a Madame googoo made so hopefully that one works for me. Ill be awfully sad if it doesn't. Her slots are easy to get and she does full buckle conversions.

deleted-user

I haven't tried the wrap conversions. Have you tried the wrap conversion Tulas? I was looking at maybe getting a canvas one. What didn't you like about them?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Nope no Tulas! Not a fan.

deleted-user

Any Tulas in there :-) I actually bought my first rainbow gira not long ago and liked it so much that I now have my own loom and I'm learning how to weave the wraps myself :-)

Kinderpacks are great! I love woven wraps but they do have a learning curve. I would get the toddler personally. It will last longer. If your only going to buy 1 I say get the kool knit. You'll be super thankful for it in the summer and you can always add a layer in the winter. You can't take more off in the summer.

deleted-user

What do you recommend for being on the back?

I checked out the kinder pack. Is standard or preschool better? (15 months old) Also is regular or koolknit better?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

The cupcakes sat there for months!!!! It wasn't a popular fabric although I don't know why. It's adorable. Becos are great! The Gemini can be used from day 1 with no extra anything. The Soleil you'll need the infant insert.

deleted-user

deleted-user

Would you prefer the beco more for around the house breastfeeding a newborn while chasing a two yr old?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

It's fine for the newborn stage. But like with any type of stretchy anything it doesn't have the longest life once babies are older. It's great for the beginning though!

What do you think of the baby k'tan wrap? Is it easy to breast feed in?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Momma....she asks to be worn. Big kids need snuggles to ;)

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Nerd...if you want a hip carry I would get a ring sling. However I think he'd love being on your back as opposed to the hip. Many great carriers for that!

deleted-user

deleted-user

Squishy I love you!!! Your so full of wisdom and always willing to share with everyone ?

I have a question though- why would you need to wear your 5 year old? Not even an issue of weight as I'm sure some of those wraps could hold it, but why couldn't they walk? Isn't that the equivalent to seeing a too old tot riding in a stroller with their feet dragging. Honest question- hope I don't offend!!! I have a 4.5 year old and I can't really think of an instance were I would have to carry him around.

What's the best baby wearing device for a 15 month old who loves being on my hip? He weighs around 27 pounds and cries all day if I'm not holding him...

I have 2 moby wraps but I don't think those will work any longer

*** I didn't think about wearing him, I thought you could only wear 6 months and younger! I'm so excited you posted this!****

Is there any you could suggest to me that I'd be able to use for another year or so? She's 37lbs and 38inches now. Maybe I could get a new carrier for Christmas.

deleted-user

Wow!!

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

I still wear my 5.5 year old occasionally. I know a few parents who've had special adult sized carriers made so they can wear special needs large children. Just need the right carrier!

deleted-user

I was just wondering because my DD is 21 months and I'd love to wear her still but she's 37lbs so I can't anymore. She outgrew our wraps and we couldn't buy anymore. I guess I just figured a 3 year old would be too big since my DD already is, but I guess most kids are tinier.

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

That's actually pretty accurate Sarah. I do enjoy stealing random babies at MommyCon and when with friends who have babies. I don't ask, I just steal them and wrap them up!

deleted-user

deleted-user

@pp no she just picks up random babies out of strollers, scolds their moms for hurting their poor backs and then proceeds to put said baby in her handy dandy baby wrap and that is how a squishy baby is born. True story.

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Of course I can use them. I still wear him daily. To and from dropping the kids at school, at the store, when we go anywhere.

I have to show my dh this picture! He thinks I'm crazy for having three; he just doesn't get it!!

Can you use them at all right now? Isn't your youngest three?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Kinderpack Northern!

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Sorry! I just donated my only Ergo, a Mei Tei, a Beco Gemini, 2 pouches and a couple wraps to my local babywearing groups lending library. You should look for one in your area. They almost always have lending libraries so you can use a carrier without purchasing one.

squishymommy1

TONS Teton. Personally I dig wrap conversion ring slings. I think they are more supportive. Sleeping baby productions sometimes has EasyCare WCRS in stock. Or find a cheap long or short wrap on "The babywearing swap" on Facebook and have it converted by her. The swap is great for all wovens. You can find a lot of great ones for $150 and under. That's a pretty reasonable budget to get a woven you really like.

deleted-user

deleted-user

Squishy, what's a good woven wrap or ring sling for under $150 that is toddler friendly?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Yeah the bottom shelf alone probably is lol. There's a Pavo in there ????

I do! But I love it and am hoping for 1 more kiddo to wear it with. It has cupcakes on it! KPs are my favorite SSC. I have a custom Star Wars carrier being made right now, so I may have a new favorite over KPs.

Tent, I haven't gotten ANYTHING, and I've signed up for MULTIPLE things.

I stated my mom got played.

Jesus.

squishymommy1

Brandee....I do use them all! Gotta match my clothes!

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

Jess. What carrier did you try previously?

Are there any carriers that won't bother the lower back? I have herniated discs and my baby carrier killed my back with my last two. I also have a ring sling but that bothered my back too.

deleted-user

I wouldn't even know how to decide which to use!!! So many colors!!

I'm taking donations!! ?

@pp obviously to match her underwear and shoes. Don't be silly.

deleted-user

Why do you need so many?

squishymommy1

squishymommy1

I really like ring slings and stretchy wraps for newbies. I love woven wraps too for all ages. The Beco Gemini is also really nice as well as the Beco Soleil with the insert for when they are newbies.

Holy moly why so many

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday…

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
