Just out of curiosity, does breastfeeding hurt as bad the second time as it does the first? Planning to breastfeed my son just as I did my daughter. She had been fully weaned since one as about 8 weeks pregnant with this one. My nipples are already itching like crazy and feel dense like they are full of milk. They don't exactly leak on their own but gentle pressure produces clear droplets.

With my daughter pumping rarely did any good. For some reason my body knew the difference between baby and pump and I couldn't let down for the pump. Hand expressing was easier but I still got the same amount. I luckily never had a clogged duct.

@maxx I think i had a clogged duct or something. One was completely unbearable at one point. I even tried just pumping and hand expressibg.

@badadvicemom with my daughter she had a great latch from the very beginning but it still hurt I think because the colostrum was so thick at first and caused some tearing coming out. It wasn't unbearable though.

It shouldn't hurt if done properly. Once you get a proper latch and make sure baby doesn't have any prevention then you are fine.

I'll be honest, it didn't hurt with me the first time. It did the second though. She was latched on correctly and everything. I had to use a nipple shield a lot longer than I had hoped.
