Does the doctor need consent from both parents to do a circumcision or just one? I don't want my boyfriend and his mother to try and do this behind my back while I'm all groggy
@nk2510, no I'm delivering at sacred heart and i haven't even been there yet.
Like Florida hospital, Halifax, I think I saw you have a st Luke's over there.
Well you will have the option to have it done while you're in the hospital by a surgeon. Or some pediatricians will come to the hospital to do it. The pediatric office I work at does it in their office up to 7 days old after that we refer to a urologist. But as far as consent both parents have to sign the form. Definitely make the doctor in the hospital aware of what you want for your child. It's strange that they have not brought that up yet. What hospital network are you using if you don't mind me asking?
@nk2510, I think it's different by state then. In California my ob was the one who did it. In Florida it hasn't been brought up yet
I work in a Peds but it's not labor and delivery but BOTH parents have to consent. This is all very good advice though. Speak with the physicians beforehand.
Well after hes on the birth certificate he can do practicually anything with the child.. medically or not. I just know this from exsperience.
@ndharlen, Im California my ob was the one who did it. Here no ones brought it up yet
@exoticyuri, the mom doctor isn't the one who does the circumcision it is the pediatrician and of you say no then that what goes
@ndharlen, I need to call my doctor bottom line... I'm so stressed.. I wish I'd just got into labor now to avoid interference
@exoticyuri, it doesn't matter what the father says they go off of the mother
I work in the hospital with mother and babies after the moms have their babies and fathers decision don't matter
According to her he can sign for it being he is dad but maybe if you talk to dr before hand you can stop it from happening
@mommysbabies, wait I think I got confused by your post
@mommysbabies, that's definitely not happening and I'm pissed everyone's ganging up on me. My family doesn't care for circumcision but they aren't getting involved in our decision
Double check with dr but she said she believes the only way they wouldn't go with what he says is if you don't say he is dad but I think that would cause more problems she said best advice would be for you two to sit down and try to come up with a mutual agreement
Omg that'll be so wrong if they do that! That's your baby it's your decision
Put it in your chart that baby is NOT to be circumcised. If you and dad aren't married I'm pretty sure they go with what mom wants.
Give me two seconds my mom has experience working in labor and delivery
@mommysbabies, but did they only need one parents ?
I'm pretty sure I had to sign for my sons
@firsttimemom1, I might just call him in case she tried to talk to me before then
@exoticyuri, then contact the doctor thats gone deliver yo baby. States vary so i can't give you a for sure answer.
they ask in the hospital & im sure they'll ask the mother before anything
Locking your doors
We are having a discussion on one of my birth boards from my older kids about locking doors and security alarms. There are many of us (me included) who do not lock our doors at home (I actually don't even have a deadbolt on my house and we don't lock it when we leave either), and others who think that's totally weird. So what do you do? Do you lock your doors? Do you think it's weird that people don't?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...

(Thread Closed) 12week scan of my identical twins- got my 20week scan in 5weeks but not finding out what sex they are. But just for fun what do you all think? :)
Oh ok! They are good. Pretty sure when you're filling out the paperwork on the begging it should be in there with it. So if it's not just ask. Or if dad is filling it out make sure you see it.
