My whole life, from the time I was a tiny tot, everyone around me has told me how creative I am. From the way I played, to story telling, building, drawing, painting, sculpting, paper mache, photography, sewing, knitting, crocheting... basically if there was something artistic I found interesting, I taught myself how to do it.
I consider myself a creative person. As in, I feel like creativity is at the core of my entire identity. I wouldn't know how described myself otherwise.
But my husband, on many occasions, tells me I'm not creative at all. He genuinely thinks that.
And even though I know he wouldn't know what creativity were if it hit him like a bus, it really friggin bothers me. 😔

Not everyone recognizes you for the awesomeness you are, please don't be afraid to keep shining. Just keep being and doing you, there is a reason that you are the way that you are and maybe it doesn't inspire your husband at the moment but it reaches other important people in your life and heck maybe one day your creativity will even get through to him when you least expect it! My mom never appreciated my creative talent all my 24 years and it hurt but then she gave an open mic speech at my wedding mentioning how I warmed her heart with my ability to just try new things and start fun projects. I was really touched. So anything is possible. ⭐️

I saw some pics you posted here of your projects by the way and I think they are amazing and wonderful, and that's coming from someone who also considers herself to be pretty creative 🙂

@egayton2017 It's really frustrating, because he will acknowledge if he's impressed with a painting or something I've done, but doesn't think I'm creative?? Doesn't make sense. He also says my eldest son, his stepson, isn't creative, but that's the most frequent praise he has received from teachers and family.
But he's just a different kind of person, different interests and skills, different brain. I just wish he were capable of recognizing when things he says hurts my feelings 😒 I'm so careful to never say anything that could make him feel bad, even when I'm really angry 🙄

@egayton2017 Thank you 😊 I don't think I've gotten to see anything you've made

@joanna.davis, wow 😳 I just went through my photos and it's crazy how my projects have become more centered around my baby as of late. I guess I have forgotten who I am a bit since having a baby and might need to get back into the old me. But this is a recent homemade play dough project where we spelled out her name, Zariah.

@joanna.davis, are there maybe Meetup groups for creative people or even creative moms in your area? Anything to help you feel more supported.

@egayton2017 most of my creative stuff has become baby centered, though not necessarily centered on my baby, lol.
Awh, that's cute. I wrote out Finn's name in side walk chalk, and added some doodles, but he tried to eat the chalk, lol.

@egayton2017 Uh, kind of. But it's not for moms, and most of them are people who are still living the "party" lifestyle, haha

@joanna.davis, I hear ya about the Meetup groups. Aww that's a cool sidewalk drawing, it reminds me of the marshmallows in Lucky Charms cereal.
