Can any moms give me some advice on getting my son to like riding in the car....... he couldn't make a 30min car ride with out crying to the point where he's not breathing. It was about 10 mins into the car ride and he freaked out. I would like to go visit my family but haven't because they are two hours away and I'm scared to make that voyage. He's never liked car rides which I found strange because so t most kids love it?
Couple things that have worked for my son.
- feed him right before
- keep the pacifier close
- play music (my son likes anything with bass or chimey like piano)
- keep sun out of his face (my son screams unless I keep the sun out of his eyes)
-don't drive in traffic (my son is okay when the car is moving but the moment we stop at a stop light or are stuck in traffic he gets fussy)
My daughter is almost 16 months and she just started to adapt to being in the car about 2 months ago. She was more calm if I sat in the back with her but sometimes that didn't work. I got so used to being a back seat passenger that I still find my myself opening the back door 😩
Hopefully he gets used to it. Whatever you do, don't take him out of the seat. My cousin did this when her son was young and got used to being out of his car seat. It's ridiculous! I know how frustrating it must be. He'll eventually calm down and hopefully sleep! Sit in the back with him. Have someone else drive. Sing to him, distract him.
Portable sound machine works really well. I agree with feeding before going out if possible.
