Please tell me "Averie" really isn't such a horrible way to spell "Avery". Everyone keeps telling me it's awful and horrible, that she'll hate having her name misspelled and saying I'm "spelling it wrong" and that she "won't be taken seriously" because of it 😑 I happen to think it's a cute spelling, and I've dealt with having my name misspelled my whole life and I turned out fine. Ugh. Just need some reassurance.
@onlyhuman, thanks!! I agree, it always sucks growing up and not being able to find anything personalized just right. My name, "Megan", isn't even very unusual at all, but I somehow never found anything with my name on it growing up... and when I did, it was almost always a different spelling!! I think I had ONE personalized thing that I bought as a kid, a mug, because it was the only thing I could find that had my spelling 😂 So I can relate!! I haven't really thought about it in a long time or as I've been getting ready for this whole parenting thing at all, since that was my normal growing up so I guess I never really thought about it as too important. Definitely something to consider with future kids, for sure!!
I know a lot of people, my sister and brother included, that have slight spelling alterations in their name. And this is how they felt; it sucks never buying a pencil or key chain with your name from anywhere or for school supplies, when they were young it was annoying to hear it was spelt funny, but as they grew up it became unique, it stood out to people who saw their name or the first time, the odd telling someone new that their bday card was misspelled was awkward but watching Starbucks employees fail in every syllable was always entertaining. Overall if you can order some school supplies online that look like the other kids with their proper spelling, it will probably help them overcome a lot of the early on struggles, and when they become adults it will just be a part of them. When people are choosing names like Apple, I think spelling it Averie is a perfectly acceptable way to make a name stand out.
I actually love that spelling! Don't listen to those negative people! I've had my name misspelled my whole life as well but has just showed my name isn't the norm I guess Lol everyone would forever (and still do at times) spell my name with a C or they spell it Kayce lol. Spell her name however you want, do what makes YOU happy! But love the ie instead of the y
For sure. And like having those personalized pencils will be like an easy thing for them to be like, see I'm spelling it right and let other kids recognize it.
