My step son is struggling. He is 4 and a half and used to sleep just fine in his own room. The past couple months he has been too scared to sleep by himself. He lays down fine and falls asleep. But then he wakes up 3 or 4 times and comes to our room to wake his dad up and hes always upset. My husband usually cuddles a bit with him then takes him back to bed where he will stay another hour or 2 before running back to our room. Last night he ran out of his room screaming and told his dad he forgot where he was. I was talking to his mom this morning and hes been doing it at her house for a while now. He says he dreams that we all die or that hes scared of the dark. He has night lights and he was never scared of the dark before. Eventually my husband ends up sleeping in his room with him which doesnt teach him he needs to be a big boy but then again its exhausting getting up every single hour cuz hes running to our bed. We try talking to him to ask why hes so scared or upset and he just shuts down and wont say anything or that he doesnt know. Anybody relate to this? Im hoping its just a phase cuz i really don't want to keep doing this when the twins are born too 😩

I mean a 4 year old shouldn't be having dreams like that. Try some therapy.

I did this when I was around that age. I remember having a dream that there was a witch that lived under my bed and it scared me half to death. The only way my parents could keep me out of their room was to let me sleep on the couch with the tv on all night. I slept on the couch up until around 7 years old. Now I can't have the tv on at all when I sleep so I definitely grew out of it. Hopefully he grows out of this a lot quicker than I did!

@ninanicole2, he has lost 2 grandpas the past year so hes grasping the concept of death still.
@christimary0 he already sleeps with his tv on and we've let him sleep in the living room but same thing happens. Im really hoping its maybe just a phase. He also talks about a witch though! His mom and step dad just moved to a new house and he says the witch from their old house came to their new house and now shes here too. Kinda freaks me out!
