My neighbours above have been having work done on their bathroom for a month now. It's 8am-5pm every day apart from Sunday's. I know this is legal but it's very loud drilling that vibrates my whole flat for the most part and it scares my daughter. It wakes us up(as if I wasn't tired enough) and prevents her from napping during the day unless I take her out. I cannot talk civilly with my neighbours because they reported me to SS for literally nothing but fun and now I feel like they are also doing this to make me life hell. Is there anyone I can speak to about this? It seems as though they have a cowboy builder so it won't get finished any time soon😩

unfortunately law states that he is doing nothing wrong. if the work has to be carried out then it has to be carried out! he is within the legal working hours. just pray they ain't doing a full renovation on the property xx

Do you have a management company or landlord that looks after the property? You could complain to them! I think as its been going on so long you have a right to complain!

I don't really think there is anything you can do with the work already started and it's with in the right hours but they definitely should of let you know it was getting done and when, the is speed bums getting put on my road and they Sent me a letter a month before letting us know when it was happening I'd definitely ring citizens advice and explain everything not sure what they can do but we can go @mamapop xx

@sara-lou, I'll give them a try thank you. I'm not sure if the laws will be any different because it's a house turned into two flats and I'm on the bottom floor (they also have laminate all the way through) so the noise disruption is a lot more than if it was the house next door. It's basically the same as living in a house that's having work done upstairs. They didn't have the respect to warn me either when they know I've got a baby, I could have found someone to stay with for the duration. I can't even drown it out with my TV😩

Unfortunately I don't think there is as their doing it within 'working hours' but I understand how frustrating it must be. Maybe call citizens advice ? (Not sure if they are the right people to ask or if that's just legal stuff) May be worth a call @mamapop
