I'm going to share my labor and delivery experience because I'm SO grateful of how it went ... So, on Sunday July 10th I woke up in the middle of the night due to my water bag being ruptured so I went to the hospital & was admitted so they put me on pitocin but I still wasn't dilating so they put a cervix softener inside of me and that helped my cervix thin out a lot more. (All the while I'm having painless contractions) Then, on the morning of July 11th the doctor put me on a epidural, and pitocin (they had stopped the pitocin because I was still only 1cm dilated) and about an hour later the doc came in and broke my water bag. Then, I dilated to 4cm (still having painless contractions) and I went to sleep because I thought it'd be another all night process... A couple hours later I woke up because the doctor wanted to check my cervix to see how far I was dilated and to my SURPRISE I was dilated to a 10cm within 7 hours (we started the process that morning) and it was time for me to push! When I pushed, I only pushed for 1 hour and 15 minutes (I'm a FTM) and I felt NO pain!! The epidural was literally magic! All I felt was a lot of pressure, and the doctor and nurses motivated me to push so it was pretty successful. That's my story lol it's nothing exciting. I'm just super happy that thanks to the epidural, I felt no pain dilating to 10cm and pushing my baby girl out.
