Good afternoon mommies!
Quick question! How long did it take you to get the hang of breast feeding? Did you supplant when needed? Were you pumping? How often? I'm stressing out so bad about breast feeding my baby.. I'm just hoping I'm doing everything right.. :/

what if I pump @katiekupkakes and then he is hungry? I give him what I was able to produce but then what if he is still fussy and wants to eat more?

baby eats literally every half hour. it's so normal. like she said sometime around 4 or 5 months he will start to eat less frequently. my son went down to 4 feedings a day around that time now that he eats food, drinks water & bf he only nurses maybe 3 times a day. the first 4 months are hard but trust me they fly by so fast. supplementing WILL lower your supply because skipping a feeding WILL tell your body that you do not need that milk & it will make less.

my baby is a week old and we breastfeed and pump and I give at least an Oz and a half every two hours I switch out between breast and bottle but always pump every 4 hours it's been working good for us @veda1010

You sound like you are doing fine, just nurse him on demand and ignore the clock. I'm serious, because the more he eats the more you will make! It really does work like that lol eating often is NOT an indication of low supply, it is simply a normal newborn who wants mama's love and comfort and is thirsty and hungry and trying to learn this new world! They nurse for so many reasons! As I said before, count the pees and that will tell you if he is getting enough!

Unfortunately that is normal, in the first couple months all they wanna do is nurse, nurse, nurse ALL DAY AND NIGHT haha but I promise, they get over that haha I think around 3 months the feedings became less time consuming, and by 6 months she could empty a boob in 4 mins flat and be good during the day, but still nursed for longer than that for naps and bedtime 😜

@hellosweetie, I feel like all I do is breast feed him.. like all day he will eat if I let him.. I don't want to supplement because I don't want him to reject Me... it makes Me so nervous..

It took us a few weeks to get it down good so it became second nature. As long as your baby is peeing 5 to 6 times a day (after the first week of life), there is NO need to supplement, they should also be gaining at a steady pace but if they are peeing enough, it is usually a good indication that they are getting plenty of milk. It is best to avoid pumping and bottle feeding in the first 4 to 6 weeks until you and baby get good at it and it becomes easier. Your baby may get nipple confusion and prefer the fast flow of the bottle if introduce too soon, and pumping NEVER gets as much milk as the baby does, and since breastmilk is supply by demand, the more milk is removed from the breast the more your body will make. It is hard in the beginning, but try to just trust your baby and your body and keep an eye on how many wet diapers baby is giving you, and I promise it will get easier 😊

It took me like two weeks to get the hang of it! They recommend you don't pump for the first 6 weeks just so your milk can regulate properly, even though I did lol
