seems like I've seen a lot of women have gotten or are getting induced solely because they are uncomfortable?? Like around 38 weeks...I didn't know doctors would even do that without a medical reason? I know everyone handles pregnancy differently and for some it can be pure hell...but here I am overdue and I still don't want to be induced even with how insanely uncomfortable I am. I personally feel like that's kind of selfish...of course if there is a real reason then absolutely do it for the health of you and your baby but if it's just discomfort come on..wait another couple weeks until your baby is ready on his or her own.

yeah at 39 weeks you can ask and they'll do it:/ no reason at all necessary

I agree.

@hermommy right :/ but even 39 weeks is more acceptable than the 37 weekers I keep seeing saying they're demanding induction at their next appointment because they "can't stand being pregnant anymore" 😒

My doctor is telling me they can maybe do something at 38 weeks.. (Friday) Personally I hope so. 😭 then again you know my situation. 😆 I'm not a crazy person though who's just uncomfortable! But hey! I have early labor goin on! Just no water broken yet..
missing268user·
legally they can't induce until 39, those women are crazy... even with my medical issues they can't induce until at least 39. craziness, I get swept at 37 for reasons but induction isn't an option and I've actually asked to see if I could put that off

@babes87101116 yeah exactly what I'm saying. I have a feeling someone is gonna get super offended by this post which is not my intention, I just truly feel it's selfish to want induction specifically because of discomfort. No one said the end of pregnancy would be comfy haha!

My doctor told me today babies who are born after 38 weeks tend to be more smarter. I was surprised he said that but it makes sense.

@twinmama_navywife girl you're having twins... I honestly give like all the kudos to you, with a singleton that's hard but twins!? 👏👏👏

@hermommy, one day at a time.

Dude, I'm so happy you posted about this. @jennatess also went past due. I really wanted to be past due with my second but he decided to be a butthead and come 11 weeks early. It bothers me when people try inducing themselves early.

GIRL your situation is 120% different from what I'm talking about! Twin pregnancies have many many differences from singleton ones. I know at first you were happy to make it to 36 weeks with your boys. It's absolutely amazing and I'm super happy that you're as far as you are! But I can't imagine the strain your body is under. Your boys are showing signs they want to come on their own, too. These girls I'm talking about are just rushing things @twinmama_navywife

I thought they only did it for medical reasons. that's pretty crazy they can do it because you're uncomfortable.

@xoashl3ylynnxo really? I didn't know that. I guess it does make sense though in some ways. Geesh my baby better be a freaking genius at this point 😂

@hermommy, all they have to do is rupture their amniotic sac during a cervix check and its not "induction."
My Dr with my son told me 40weeks and after then we will talk induction at 39/5 she started induction, because I had preterm labor and his heart rate was jumpy. I delivered at 40wks exactly.

I was induced at 39 weeks for medical reasons and I would not recommend it to anyone especially if you don't have to! Not only is it uncomfortable and painful but if your baby and body are not ready it can fail. I was in labor 60.5 hrs then had to have a c section 😳

@goodbyelullabye speaking of induction...your due date is tomorrow woop! Any sign of lil man??
Ella·
Мама двоих (младенец)
@daij, I had to be induced because I have a blood condition and my dr had to take me off blood thinner but couldn't leave me off more than 2 weeks because of the risks and my blood sugar kept dropping so low it was dangerous. It was traumatic being induced then having a c section

I've been bouncing on that damn ball....I don't want to be induced Thursday! 😭 I have been having some good contractions tonight, so maybe I can just go in and they'll be like, oh...you're already on your way..no induction meds needed. I can only hope.
emily·

Ah I hope you go into labor on your own!! I have an appointment Thursday as well. They will probably set an induction date. I'm gonna have my midwife do a membrane sweep to see if I can go into labor before having to be induced. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for us both! @bubblebeck

Thank you! If these contractions keep up, I'm going to go ahead and call L&D. My OB said since it's my 3rd to go in if I have 4 in an hour. I don't gotten up to 3!!!😄

I don't even know what a contraction feels like 😣 I've had this odd crampy feeling all day today but it hasn't been necessarily consistent and nothing that I can time so I think it's just wishful thinking on my part @bubblebeck

It's different for everyone. They can feel like period cramps that come and go. They can feel like just tightening of your stomach and a little bothersome. Sometimes, I'm not even sure if I had one and I feel like I should know, having already been through it.
Becky·

I've had some that start in my back and radiate to the front and my stomach tightens
emily·

I had bad lower back pains and cramps that I can only describe as very similar to period pains, but I figure it was nothing significant because there has been no tightening and no feeling of tightness at all @bubblebeck

@emkasting nope nothing at all 😂

I went a day shy of 42 weeks. And I'd do it again a thousand times. I HATE it when I see people wanting to induce at 37-38 or even 39 weeks. Knock it off! Doctor says your baby is going to be big, so you need to induce now? So what! My daughter was over 9lbs! If you can't handle 40-42 weeks of carrying your child, then I personally think you need to reevaluate your priorities. Ugh! Haha. Unless there is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY for induction, then I say stop whining and enjoy the fact that you're even able to carry a child to full term. There are thousands of women right this very second who can't get pregnant or carry full term. It's devastating.

@jennatess I worried my entire pregnancy about delivering baby early. I was so terrified about that possibility. So the fact that I'm now 40w4d is such an incredible blessing. He is going to be a big baby, 2.5 weeks ago he was right around 8lbs (estimate of course). But I still don't want to be induced. Not at all. The fact that you went a day shy of 42 weeks makes me feel a bit more confident!
