Is it okay to mix breast milk and formula? I'm only going to be at school for 5 hours in the evening but I'll be with him during the day and I want to continue to breastfeed but I don't produce enough milk to store it for the babysitter. So am I able to breastfeed during the day, give formula while I'm at school then breastfeed during the night?
I won't be able to pump when I'm at school that's my only problem @verobaby
even if you supplement i strongly suggest pumping just to keep your supply up. even if you don't pump enough for a full bottle. going those hours without feeding could lower your supply. happened to me when i first went back to work until i learned how & when to pump.
I understand and that is reasonable and that's only 1 or 2 bottles, but I am just trying to be honest, your supply may suffer from just those few hours so try to feed ASAP when you get home to try to avoid that.
I plan on breastfeeding still most of the day and during the night only between 4-10pm us when he will have to use formula since I'm not making enough milk to store while I'm away @tahtahme
Using formula wont help your milk supply go up...but if youre ok with that and ok with it maybe getting to the point where he is formula only, then go ahead it will be fine!
I strongly recommend breast is best.. and formula as a last resort only.
I would suggest just starting your baby off with the newborn formula it for baby up to three months .. And yeah my nephew is 7 months and his mom does the same still breastfeed him but also gives him formula and our babies seem to take it well
I do that but I'm still not producing enough to save @desiree918
That's good news for me.. I didn't want to stop nursing so knowing someone else is doing that makes me feel a whole lot better! @elismommy01
My son is two months and I breastfeed him but he also take formula too and he seems to take both just fine , I'm also having that issue where I feel I'm not producing enough milk for him
talk to your teacher or adviser there has to be something they can do to help. your supply could unfortunately suffer.
