ok so my boy is 5 days old and I've been breast feeding.. my nips are so sore and bleed when he nurses! what can I do? already got some lanolin cream but should I just pump and feed him my milk from a bottle until my nipples heal??
They did a tiny bit not alot. How much is yours? If there is more than I would say a pinky nail than maybe switch off with a pump and nursing for feedings. Keep them moist with cream and even before you nurse put some on and when nursing stick to one breast the full nursing and than switch to the other breast for the feeding and the one you dont nurse on, pump :) have you tried different positions? Maybe to help him latch better
It'll get better mama, you just have to push through these first few days
Your body adjusts to it. Baby stimulates your body more than what a pump can do so you wont get as much because babies suckling will help you regulate and produce naturally a good amount that baby will eat so nurse nurse nurse :) it will hurt but eventually get better! It took about 3 weeks
You can, but they don't recommend pumping in the beginning because it can cause an over supply and that sounds ok but it can be painful. Check your baby's latch. Make sure they're latched on well. You can call the hospital you delivered at and see if you can talk to and be seen by their lactation specialist or you can probably call WIC and see if there's a lactation consultant there who can check baby's latch and also check for tongue and lip ties. There may be some homemade nipple cream ideas online- you can see if those help better Han the lanolin stuff.
Mine bled less than a pinky nail and not often, they did get a tiny little scabby but yes they did get better after about 3 weeks, I work full time and my son has 8 teeth and its 9 months later and were still going strong :)
