***HELP.
My lo is 5mos old & starting to teeth. She has been biting down/pulling on my nipple before she starts eating cause them to be red, swollen, & tender. It hurts so bad & I seriously don't know what to do. (ftm & only woman who's breastfed in fam)
I asked my lactation consultant this question and she said if possible do not react because they can find it funny and continue to do it… When they are older and can understand no and things like that then what you should do is put the baby on the floor and say no that hurts mommy and do that every time until the baby stopped biting… I know you said your little one is only five months… So just try your best not to react whatsoever as hard as that is
I jumped & yelled ow the first time. it frightened her but she still does it! I will try unlatching and being consistent with saying no. thank you ladies!
Be consistent with saying no. no biting. unlatch for a while and then try again. My baby doesn't bite anymore since I started doing this. they understand more than we give them credit for.
My son bit down once while nursing and it hurt so bad I jumped and yelled ow, not meaning to scare him but it was my knee jerk reaction, he never bit me again though lol I would just keep taking her off when she's doing that
I heard once they get use to a nipple shield that they will become dependent on it to nurse.
thank you! I will try that!
