Discussion time. (No judgmental comments. I would just like to hear people's views.) • I came across a online blog talking about how the states Texas and Louisiana are talking about making co-sleeping illegal. If caught, CPS can and will be involved. • What are your thoughts? • (My thoughts are that nobody should be able to tell you how you OR your child should sleep. Many experts say it is dangerous because you could smother your kids while others say it increases the parental bond and leads to well adjusted kids. But *I* think it is a personal choice that parents make based on what works for them. I think parents are typically aware of if they are light or heavy sleepers. I like to believe that parents know well enough if co-sleeping is something they shouldn't attempt.)

My baby is a month and she has slept with me since she came home from the hospital. I totally think it should be a personal decision. I think that law would just be a scare tactic to discourage co sleeping but it would be so hard to enforce. Like how would they even find out? That's crazy

@ilondon, that's what I was thinking. I can imagine hateful significant others/ex's calling the police/CPS taddling on the other. "Um. Yeah. Officer..my ex wife is taking a nap with my baby daughter...come quick."

I think they should focus on the parents who are addicts & the parents who neglect their children rather than waste time with parents with babies and kids that cosleep.

That's ridiculous. I have co- slept with both of my children and they both turned out fine. I totally respect people who have their kids sleep separately, also. Personal choice. But getting CPS involved? That's insane. Those services need to be used for children that are actually in danger.
