hey ladies, just wondering, when you guys had your new born, how long was the feeding times. my little Eric trends to latch on and falls asleep constantly. I try to wake him up, but he's a hard sleeper and if I let him fall asleep on my boob, he'll be feeding for literally hours and hours. any tips to wake him up?

@verobaby, 3 weeks. yeah, he just got back to his birth weight but that's with some formula supplementation. he wasn't gaining any weight and it made me nervous. I suspect that he doesn't know how to suck hard enough. 😢
no babies are supposed to lose weight when they leave the hospital. how old is he now?
@verobaby, my son weighed at 6.9 lbs and left the hospital at 5.15 lbs. he didn't eat much. 😢
my son was the same. the nurses made me feel horrible because "he was still hungry" after only feeding for 2 minutes when he was first born. he was born 7 lb 9 oz. he left the hospital at 7 lb 6 oz. at his 3 day appointment he gained back his birth weight plus more. he was 7 lb 14 oz. my point is as long as your baby eats something everything will he fine. my son still nurses & falls asleep quick & he's 16 lb now at 4 months. some babies are just really good at sucking so they don't feed for very long. hope that helps.
I never woke my son and still don't. He is 16 weeks now... If he falls asleep I let him sleep. He will wake up when he is hungry.

Strip him down to just his diaper or rub his cheek
tickle or flick the bottom of his feet!!!! that's what my ob suggested!
the only ones I was told we like going over the back of the head kind of like a tickle the arm, back, or feet. they've worked enough for my baby to keep sucking instead of just being there
have you talked to a consultant. he's latch might not be right. that could also be why he isn't gaining weight properly
