So I was just told about a cervix exam that you get towards the end of your pregnancy...she explained it to be EXTREMELY painful. her and her sister cried...is it really that bad? its not like a PAP?
Definitely feeling nervous
ouch:/ all the other times i thought my epidural didn't work boy was i wrong, went all natural with my 7 year old daughter i thought i was going to die i applaud women who go all natural with all their lil one's
@alexandrea777 I agree. The cervix check for dilation is uncomfortable and there's pressure, but the only time I remember pain was the cervix check when I was in labor with my first one because I didn't get an epidural.
@erinflaherty818, i agree there shouldn't be pain like that uncomfortable and can hurt but to where your in tears that sounds horrible :/. and they check to see if you've dilated when you get closer to your due date
i had a pelvic exam the day I miscarried. but, it wasn't called a cervix exam so idk.
that definitely hurt me! I'm imagining it was the same type of thing.
I had one at 6 weeks when I had a "threatened miscarriage" and it was uncomfortable, but not painful and no where near bringing me to tears :) @tiffmama
Sometimes it is painful. I had to get it almost every week after 31 weeks because of pre term labor so they had to keep checking my cervix. It hurt so much to me. But it depends on who does it. This one doctor did it and she literally stuck her whole man hand up there. I was in tears. But I found a way for it not to hurt. If you ball up your fist and put it right under your butt bone so that your body is at a tilt it doesn't hurt.
I'm about to be 38 weeks and my next appointment I'll be 39, I haven't had any cervix exams at all. Could they be referring to a membrane sweep? I know that can be uncomfortable to some women
OMG D: that sounds scary. I'm 36 weeks and they haven't checked my cervix yet at all, and I'm actually really nervous but they haven't mentioned anything about it to me :o
