Could I pump breast milk and only bottle feed my baby the breast milk? My son has completely tore up my left nipple to where it has a bad sore that's bleeding. I don't want to breast feed anymore but can't afford formula and want him to have breast milk...
where do you buy nipple shields and are the expensive ? @h653 @jasalynnsmommy
your baby might have a bad latch my daughter does and I'm nipple was cracked I used a nipple shield and to heal my nipple I put my bm on it and let it air dry and coconut oil
When my milk came in my son wouldn't latch/ couldn't because my boobs were to hard. So we use a nipple shield. He's exclusively breastfed and my nipples never got sore. Nipple shields are great.
make sure he has a good latch. that could be why your sore right now. he may not be getting enough of the areola in his mouth
try using a nipple shield for your cracked nipple. the blood actually won't hurt baby. you can use nipple cream in between feeds to help with the healing process
You could but its gonna be a little bit harder to get your supply up because a pump cant stimulate your breast like baby can. Pump that side till it heals but when you nurse switch off boobs between feedings. Put nipple butter on and pump for a day. Dont give up mama I know it hurts like hell, everytime my son would latch Id clinch a blanket but eventually it wont hurt at all! My son is almost 8 months with 8 teeth and were still going lol theres gonna be obstacles but YOU can do this! (:
@mommy529, @neni0424 @savannamarie thanks ladies. I'm going to try it out!
have you apply for wic?! they give you some cans of formula! but yes you can pump and bottle feed, there also some lotion that's numbs the boob so it won't hurt when you breastfeed @carlyann00
