question for all you 2ND time + mommies, my mother freaked me out about the epidural. how bad does it actually hurt? and what exactly does it feel like??
Epidural wasn't painful at all!!!! My first baby I had it no problem second baby I had it but only one side of my body was numb and hopefully I can get it this go round.... But due to my blood platelets decreasing, my dr said if they drop anymore I won't be able to get the epidural this time!!!
had it twice. third baby and I will be having it again.
contractions are more painful than the epidural.
mine also hurt like hell. but that's due to an inexperienced anesthesiologist. he hit my spinal nerve twice. didn't numb me beforehand and ended up giving me permanent nerve damage. I wanted an all natural birth and was forced into an emergency c section due to a breech baby.
well i got permanent spinal nerve damage from it so its safe to say I hate it. although mine was a spinal block which literally paralyzes you from the belly down.
im on baby #6 no it dosent hurt atleast not to me everyone is diffrent. feels like air in my back
It's really not that bad compared to what a contraction feels like. They numb the area first which they say is like a bee sting. A nurse will help you hold still if you are having a contraction during the procedure. But trust me it's like a 2 second sting and then you will feel water running down your spine. But for me I have sharp pain every once in a while where my epidural was placed. But I had my epidural for 3 days plus had an emergency c section.
@lilmomma777, that's what I was telling Kim my mom can feels hers but only when she's on her cycle and it scares me cause it's during a contraction and you can't move, but everyone says contractions hurt like hell
I had the epidural it really does feel like a pinch but they also had me on pain medication and blood pressure after my son turned one I started to have back pain
@kimberlyyyy, thank you I try not to freak out but it helps getting other people's judgement on things
Some people do have reactions to it like that. My friends son is older than mine, can't remember how much older and she still gets back pain around the injection site. I guess it's part of the risks. Not everyone has complications though. Sorry your mom did. My mum got a c section with me.. She was less than sympathetic when I had mine (completely different story). But don't worry about it. Don't stress yourself out about anything, it's bad for the baby! Breathe momma! You got this!
@kimberlyyyy, the main thing that freaked me out was 1. made my mom cry, 2. she said when she is on her menstrual cycles she can feel exactly where they put it in at.
But that was my first born. My second was an emergency c section at 29 weeks. I had already been on other meds to keep me from having seizers and so in a way I was out of it then as well. But I don't remember either time getting numbed up hurting.
They did for me! Haha. I have no idea what they gave me though. It was because the anesthesiologist wasn't around when I needed them and they wanted to take the edge off for me. It's not an every case type thing. But by the time I got the epidural I was like, totally stoned or something. Lol. I was so out of it. I'm amazed I was able to push.
they give you pain meds before the epidural? I didn't know that! @kimberlyyyy
Doesn't hurt. When I was induced I had already been given something for pain before the epidural so I was already ok pain wise, and then with my c section I don't remember feeling it hurt at all.
I know my mother was trying to inform me but how she talks about scares the crap out of me. she said it made her cry and I know she can handle pain and I'm on the weaker side 😱 @ladisnuggles09 @mrscalderon
tbh it's scary, but omg when you're having contractions you do what you have to to stop those contractions lol. it does feel like a pinch though
oh ok ummmm it feel like a pitch depends on ur pain level really but just be still and u will find relief soon
If they do it right they give a numbing shot first then they give you the epidural and it just felt weird. I do not remember it hurting.
