Have anybody been induced with pitocin and did not get the epidural? I don't want to be induced but I have to so I'm wondering what was other experiences when it came to the pitocin and epidural. I want to try and resist getting the epidural.

A friend said she wouldn't do pitocin without an epidural ever again in her life even if they paid a million dollars. the pain is immense, because it's forcing your body to contract while it's not entirely ready.

I was induce with pitocin twice both with no epidural or pain meds the contractions hurt so bad but it depends how much you tolerate pain my labor was fast just 45 minutes of pain and baby came right out for me my water has to break before they put the pitocin that way my labor is fast and I don't have to suffer a lot but every women is different Good luck

@ilondon, it's never too late to learn new things... I'm sure you tube has plenty of tutorial videos you could watch.. also distractions are the best I've Hurd of alot of women dancing though labor

@aphrodite2014, I'm suppose to be induced next week so maybe it's too late to learn how to breath through labor, but I will start practicing now and hopefully it comes in handy

@maya_rose, your daughter have the same name as me, Imani. and I hope my labor goes like yours and I'm able to resist getting the epidural too. 8 hours is not bad! I'm feeling a little more confident now.

I did with my first and I didn't get an epidural...my doc suggested that I didn't get one due to possible long term side effects. I was only in labor for 8 hours @ilondon

@daisydukes, thank you, that gives me hope that I can do it too without epidural, I was really disappointed when I found out I had to be induced.@aphrodite2014 yea that is one of the main reasons I don't want an epidural, I'm nervous I'll will end up needing an emergency c-section.😟

I went into the hospital at 37 weeks and they induced me because I had high blood pressure and was already dilating. I had to get the epidural because my contractions got very painful. But I was also on a medicine to lower my blood pressure so that could have had something to do with it. After I had baby it was hard to move also

I had to be induced but did not want any drugs

I'd try to resist the epidural because it can slow labor and that just increases chances of c-section

I have given birth to 3 kids without an epidural, my most recent was 16 months ago where i was induced for the first time and those pitocin contractions were HORRIBLE but i powered through. Im being induced again tomorrow night and i have been having an anxiety attack all day about it. Part of me is debating an epidural but the thought of the needle scares me. Idk im just feeling so many emotions. Those of you who got the epidural is it worth it or is it better without? I also am scared of having a catheter. Im seriously a mess of anxiety right now 😫

Birth Plan Rant I used to be all about getting an epidural, but after research and thinking about it more I want to have an unmedicated birth (this is my first baby). What annoys me is when I say that I'm going to TRY my hardest to have a natural and unmedicated birth people always feel the need to say that I'm crazy or that I'm going to change my mind when I get in that position. Or that epidurals are the best. I do realize that plans change, but why can't people be supportive and encouraging?
