Vaccinate. It should be a crime not to.

Lastly, you choosing to not vaccine puts the children around you that are unable to be vaccinated at risk. So whatever you feel for your own kids, you're risking them not being allowed near others for who knows how long now that many countries and now US states are enforcing vaccination programs.

@mamamoonbaby, I'm not uneducated about this as most are on here. I have 3 degrees in medical sciences and completely understand how vaccines work. Buzzfeed is a platform that makes this type of news extremely easy to understand thus why it's posted here. If you're going to use pertussis as the example, then please remember that it's general knowledge that the vaccine wears off over time, that's not some major breakthrough you've identified. As it posses very little risk to adults, no one really worries about being up to date past age 15. It's a disease that kills babies. Also, generally knowledge that vaccines are NOT 100% effective, thus herd immunity. Saying you're not vaccinating bc something might go wrong is equivalent to not bringing a child to the hospital with a fever bc you might get into a car accident on the way, is it possible? O course. But the ends absolutely justify the means.

Oh and btw the CDC admitted that whooping cough is actually prominent in areas highly populated by those WITH the vaccine. Seriously, do some research people.

Also this article is such a load of sensational crap. Buzzfeed? Really? The pertussis vaccine does not prevent transmission of the illness, it's designed to help the body cope with the toxins the bacterium produces. Therefore it can reduce the symptoms so that people can HAVE the illness, not know it and pass it on to newborns. There was a case in Australia where a recently vaccinated nurse developed pertussis and infected four newborns where she worked.
The protocol of 'cocooning' newborns by vaccinating everyone in contact with them is completely untested and the manufacturers state on the inserts THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS EFFECTIVE. On the basis of it possibly disguising infection this actually makes it potentially very dangerous. Please do some more research instead of just getting the crap scared of you from a buzzfeed article.

@daisydukes you didn't quite answer my question but I hear you. I can't quite make the connection between injecting myself or my child with these vaccines and driving or eating. what about people who never build up antibodies to these diseases? They receive series of them and nothing. Should they just keep taking the risk? What about studies that show absolutely no significant reduction in flu outbreaks due to this recent push for the vaccine? What about diseases that don't even have vaccines? Have there been outbreaks of those? What about the fact that some parents request titers for their children to find out they are covered by the first or second shot yet they continue to receive a third? My point is nothing is perfect and blindly following guidelines seem to have more of a risk than not.

@mamamoonbaby there will ALWAYS be a risk as there is with anything (driving, eating etc.) but the benefits out weight the risks. Herd immunity is in place to protect everyone. By not vaccinating one child, you out thousands more at risk. Measles, whooping cough, polio, KILL babies. That's not debatable.

Seriously not starting a debate but what do you say to moms whose children have had severe reactions to vaccs like brain swelling, motor function loss including paralysis, etc? Shouldn't that be a crime?

The whole vaccines dilemma is too much for me. I hear some say it's horrible and hear some say it's good. I'm in the middle and just do whatever my doctor says.

In Florida if you don't vaccinate your kids they won't let you enroll them into public school.
