my baby boy was born September 4th at 3:29pm at 36 and 6. no extra hospital stay ect. when he turned two weeks i rushed him to akron childrens hospital because he was super yellow. they took some blood and his bilirubin was a 30,he was rushed to NICU within 10 minutes. they told me he didn't have just newborn jaundice and there was something serious going on. his red blood cells were breaking down way to fast and his body was having trouble keeping up with making new ones. he spent a week in the hospital and then he got to go home. they scheduled him to see a hematologist. our first appointment was nerve wrecking. showers family center for Childhood cancer and blood disorders in our local children's hospital. horrible feelings of the unknown. thinking why is my child going through this? i did everything right during my pregnancy. thry took some more blood and the doctor called later that day saying he was close to a blood transfusion and needing to be readmitted,my heart sank, the worst news after i lost my first baby at 10 weeks last September. he told us what to watch for. turning yellow, dark urine, weakness, not eating ect. everyday a total check of skin color ect. second appointment his blood work was WONDERFUL. everything needing to be where it was suppose to. but doctor said everything could flip and we could have a repeat. a little bit of hope. his third appointment today hes up to 14 pounds and he looks healthy. his blood work is saying his body and blood are doing exactly what they are suppose to do. no evidence of any more breakdown. there could still be something wrong but right now hes doing wonderful. he goes to the outpatient lab in 4 months for a recheck and then back to the doctor at a year to do more testing. more detailed testing to check for certain cancers and blood disorders. we can finally rest a little and breathe. 💙🍼👣👶👍

Dont ever blame yourself for that kind of stuff. Some babies just need a little more help in the beginning. My itty bitty was born at 29 weeks & we had a 7 week stay in the nicu. It wasn't from anything I did. I hope your lil one continues to improve. Lil ones are fighters!
