I went on the website I don't see anything about free coverage. I saw a free trial voucher for humalog but he already used one of those and can't use another for 12 months and he uses lantus as well there's a discount card but still need the money. I'm still looking on fb to see but most of the people on there are not using the same brand as him. Thank you for the help though. @iisavana

Look, I've been hassling insurance company after insurance company for 15 years. Stop sweating the insurance, go to the insulin companies websites and apply for their free coverage plans. Like Novolog is by Nordisk. Humalog is by Lilly. Go to the websites, and apply, sometimes you can even get them to ship boxes of insulin directly to your house! Plus find those diabetic groups on Facebook, I'm telling you, it'll save your life!!! It has me, a bunch! @kaymariah

ok but Walgreens doesn't have control over insurance coverage. the insurance he has just doesn't cover so we have to pay outta pocket and it comes out to over $500 which we don't have @iisavana

Go to the insulin company's website, and apply for free coverage. Also on Facebook there are a lot of diabetic pages that people help each other. My favorite is "Diabetics pay it Forward" and you can ask for help, people have sent me free insulin before. Also have him get on the phone with Medicaid about being diagnosed, and that he needs the medication immediately! You have to hound them there!!! Also look at your pharmacies, some pharmacy's will allow your insurance to cover the insulin completely, and some will still require a copay. I switched from Walgreen's, to CVS a while back, wayyyy better!! @kaymariah

@iisavana Hey u said before I could ask for advice or help about diabetes if I needed to. my boyfriend ran outta insulin and we can't get the medicine because we don't have $500+ to pay for it his insurance doesn't cover and we still waiting for his Medicaid card to be processed. I know if he misses doses he will get sick again and be in the hospital again. Idk what to do. is there a way he can get some free medicine til he gets coverage.?

Well, if you need any help or advice, you can talk to me! I also know when blood sugar is out of control, your moods go up and down. So don't always take everything personally...just a heads up! My hubby has learned over the years its a strange disease to live with.

Haha! He has to learn the cheats to diabetes. If he likes fried chicken, just use egg to dip the chicken in, no flour (low carb fried chicken)! Crystal Lite has tons of flavored drinks, with NO carbs. He just has to pay more attention, that's all.....but men are lazy!!! Lol.

they gave him all the info he needed for a diabetic diet he just isn't cooperating. he says nothing taste good. he drinks juices and soda that's Where all the sugar is but he isn't eating which is putting his body in starvation mode. u can't just take the insulin and not eat after. @iisavana

15 minutes after taking insulin he needs to be eating a meal roughly 60 carbs. He's ingesting too much sugar that his body can't break down, so its using his stored fats to break down for energy, that's why he's dropping weight. He needs to count his carbs, and eat high protein meals. He's gonna be stubborn at first. But make it clear how much pain there is involved, you don't just die from diabetes. There are crucial, painful processes to the body dying from diabetes. Blindness, nerve damage (amputation), kidney failure (very painful). Its not an easy path, but just knowing what to eat, and recognizing the signals for his sugars will guide him a long way! @kaymariah

@kaymariah, oh my gosh well guys are just stubborn :( they dont listen just keep positive thoughts he will have to learn

thank you @kori_mommy14 and @iisavana idk he hasnt been eating. he takes the insulin but he isnt eating he has dropped 40 pounds in a month. not eating put his body in starvation mode and having dka doesnt make it any better.

@waitingonnoah20 I have been on his case and so has his mom and she has diabetes as well he doesn't listen to either one of us. I have tried to help him over and over and he doesn't wanna listen. I can't help someone that don't want help. he has to help himself. I don't get it. I pray he stay alive long enough to meet his son and that something clicks in his head that he need to do better before it's too late. peoole die from this it's not a joke.

@joanna290, yea but he ran outta test strips so we tried using another machine he has and it wasnt reading so he just stopped checking it and i told him to go to walgreens and show them the machine and they can give him test strips so he can check it but he never did. this is his 3rd time in the hospital and the doctors nd nurses tell him the same thing everytime and it's like he don't care Idk. he has dka (diabetic ketoacidosis) it's fatal and dangerous. Idk what it's gonna take for him to start taking care of himself it's just sad. like do u wanna die?

i really hope he gets it through his head that his life is extremely important & hes not only hurting himself, but his loved ones as well. keep your head up & stay strong and stay on his case! even if he is being stubborn about it, my uncle was the same way when he was alive and everyone wishes they were hard on him instead of letting him make mistake after mistake. it wont be wasy but it'll be worth it.

@kaymariah, I hope he is ok and his doctors nd nurses really explain to him how important it is its harder because he was newly diagnosed but ill keep you guys in my prayers :)
