i have two questions
1. my nipples burn real bad what would make this happen ?
2. my son with only latch with the nipple shield only i try to get him to take my nipple only but no luck he just cry what should I do?

thrush causes burning after nursing. catch it early as possible. it's terrible the and gets more painful as it goes.
Well I would suggest using the coconut oil before and after pumping and nipple cream before and after feeding with the shield. Idk if babies can ingest coconut oil safely, but I know the medela nipple cream can be used before feeding your baby.
If that doesn't help I would call and ask a local lactation nurse.

My nipples usually get a slight burning sensation when there full or letting down. ..maybe it could be that?? is it constant?

Okay i will keep trying but it is hard and i hate hearing him sad or mad @octobermom14
just keep trying..I was frustrated at first that he wasn't taking the nipple. when I got home from the hospital. so many tries eventually he took it. he's two months old loves breast milk. I'm trying to give him formula because I'm going back to school. now that's a struggle for me. cream works great

Are you using nipple cream? your nipple might be chaffing between the rubber on the nipple shield.
Also if your nipples aren't big enough that could be why he can't latch.
if the pain is still bad i will go to the doctors cuz this is no joke thank you @octobermamma
