Not trying to start chaos but I feel the need to make everyone aware of the saftey of the car seat. the chest clip is just that, to be on the chest. it is an extreme danger to your child if it is lower than it is supposed to be. many babies lose their lives by simply not educating themselves about the importance of the chest clips placement. please fasten your child in safely. also Google about snowsuit and too much clothing in the car seat. Also extremely dangerous. (my baby here is in a fleece outfit and fastened in correctly.)

I've tried giving a few people information but got pushed away and called me horrible names. It's sad.

A lady at walmart commented on how beautiful my daughter is and I saw her child was incorrectly fastened in his seat. I asked her if she would mind a little information about the danger her child is currently in and showed her links to go to and how to properly secure him. she had absolutely no idea that she was doing it wrong. my mom was the car seat saftey inspector of our state and too many times have we heard or seen people putting the chest clip on their child's belly. I am not afraid to speak up when it comes to the saftey of children.

Don't forget that the straps should be at or below shoulders when RF and they should also pass the pinch test!

I always want to comment on peoples pictures. Not to be rude, but to tell them that their child isn't safe.

PSA to all the OG mom life users. Car seat safety is LIFE AND DEATH for your child. We are trying to inform, not offend. If I was doing something that made my daughter unsafe I would 100% take advice to correct myself. When I was new to baby bump I knew nothing about car seats and these ladies taught me so much. I am now advocating with them. There is nothing wrong with taking advice from someone who knows better. Parenting is all about learning from your mistakes and protecting your kids. If a piece of plastic can save your child's life then it needs to be used properly. We've seen so many posts about children dying because they were not properly restrained in their car seats. The parents decided to learn about car seat safety after their child died and it was too late. Would you rather take some helpful advice to better your child or have a funeral and then learn the advice and teach it to others? It's all about prevention. There is nothing wrong with not knowing but ignoring information and facts about keeping your child safe is some of the worst parenting. We want to help you, not attack you. If you don't believe us, do your own research. And, just because it's the law does NOT make it safest.

Share pictures of you littles in their car seats for a CAR SEAT FIT CHECK 😊 I am a CPST (Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician) and would be more than happy to help you double check that your seat is fitting your little one correctly - proper strap placement, chest clip placement, strap tightness etc. plus any other questions you may have! You can also send me a private message if you prefer 🙂 Other helpful info would be if your child is rear facing or forward facing, their age/height/weight, and the name of the car seat you’re using. I’ll share first! My littlest is 18 months, 28lbs, and 30ish inches long. And she is sitting rear facing in a Diono Rainier. 😊 The straps are coming from below her shoulders, her chest clip is at nipple/arm pit level, there’s no slack in her harness, and there aren’t any aftermarket products attached to her straps or added to her car seat! ✅ 🙂 *please no bashing or mommy shaming for being “overprotective” or for any misuse you may see - it’s more common than you think 😉

son getting out of car seat

son getting out of car seat So a couple days ago my son started getting himself out of his car seat while we are on the road. He will be 2 years old May 27th. He pushes the chest clip all the way down and pulls his arms and shoulders out of the straps but is still buckled at the waist. Today he did it 4 times, we had to pull over every time. What do you guys do when they start doing this? My Britax came with these long rubber strap covers but I took them off a while ago when he was to small for them. Are they to stop him from pushing the chest clip down? I just want to know if these will help before I take it apart to put them back on.
