Car seat safety Is anybody else crazy about car seat safety like I am ? I feel like it's important to educate ourselves on what's acceptable and what's not, but I guess not everyone feels that way.
CAR SEAT SAFETY AWARENESS
#momlifechats Moms, Welcome to #momlifechats! We’re so excited to welcome Krysta Watkins (@krystamariebee) chatting today on car seat safety! Here's her bio: Happy Saturday! So excited to be a part of this awesome community of moms. I have been a Certified Car Seat Safety Technician since May 2017 but an advocate of car seat safety since before my oldest was born in 2014. I’m married to an amazing guy who supports my crazy dreams of keeping all kids riding safe. We have two boys, Landon will be 3 in December and Frankie will be 1 in December. I work in a pediatric clinic where I get to help parents with all of their car seat related questions! My biggest piece of advice I can give is don’t be afraid to ask. I still ask other technicians questions. I even have friends who are instructors who still ask questions. Car seat safety is an ever evolving field. Whether you’re preparing for your first kid or you’re a seasoned mom, it never hurts to ask. Car crashes are the #1 killer of kids between the ages of 1 and 12, so why not make them as safe as we possibly can?! FB: https://m.facebook.com/groups/2236216943 Please ask @krystamariebee anything by tagging her in the comments below. And big thanks @krystamariebee for participating in this chat! Let’s get chatting! 🍁mom.life_usa🍂

My DH is meh. In general he is not a detail oriented person and gives things the minimal amount of attention. ☹
He does mostly ok, but usually the straps are a little looser than I like, sometimes the chest clip is off, and I've even found twisted straps once.
My DH does the best he can in 3 minutes. ?
I've told him why it's important many times, but unfortunately I can't make him care more.

We always double check each other’s Work ?? can never be too careful with our babies.

The first time he ever strapped ds in I wemt and double checked and was surprised, it was perfect straps weren't loose and chest clips was where it needed to be lol, he did want to forward face at 1 but I said no and explained why and he hasn't brought it up since and d's turns 3 in a week.

My husband is crazy about car seat safety. He gets nervous when my mom has our son because he doesn’t think she will get him buckled good enough.
That being said, he didn’t know about things like staying rear facing for so long until I told him. I stay more on top of that stuff, but he is a stickler for safe car seat installation.

This is adorable. Yes my hubby has it down :)

My otherhalf is better with car seat safety than I am.

When it comes to things like this I'm the type of mindset "if i don't do it it's not done right"
SO knows how to do it and the proper way and where everything should be but it's just one of those things that i like to do myself. Here's never had to go anywhere with dd by himself but if he did i know that he knows what to do. I'm confident in his ability but i like doing it myself.

DH is the one that researched which seats to buy, bought them, installed them in everyone's cars and adjusts them as the kids grow. (We divided stuff up when i was pregnant w my first. I got to choose strollers and cribs, he got to choose car seats and swings etc.)
It makes me sad that this even a question. Why wouldn't a father know about car seat safety. That's not an indicator of good parenting, that just the most basic parenting. If they're going in a car, they need a car seat and the parents should know how to use them. Have we really set the bar so low for our men that we're impressed by this?
deleted-user·
yes. i told him everything i read about car seat safety and now he’s even more cautious about it more than me. ❤️
deleted-user·
Yes I make him read everything. He’s such a good dad, he always willing to listen and learn how to do things for our son.

I knew nothing before having my first one? my husband was an expert. He was a school bus driver and had to get certified for carseat technitian. He is always up to date with carseat safety.
deleted-user·
Yea, we are definitely on the same page with car seat safety! Thank god!
deleted-user·
Definitely. He actually knew a lot before me. If we are going somewhere together with our LO he straps her in every time.
deleted-user·
So will put ds in his seat and tighten it to where he cant move, then freaks out bc its too loose, he forgets to move the chest clip down to get it tighter, so i end up finishing putting him in. But hes trying more, so thats a start. He also has to make sure ds seat is nice and tight in the car.

My husband is pretty good about it. He gets annoyed with how cautious I am, but tolerates. If he didn’t put the cheat clip in the right spot or straps too loose I correct it.
He’s the one who secures their seats in the vehicles. He gets them in there perfectly. Meanwhile I can’t ?
deleted-user·
Yes, before we were released from the hospital with dd the nurse went over car seat safety with us and SO listened very carefully. He always straps her in tight and puts the chest clip in the right place.
