How do moms feel about giving babies small amounts of rice cereal before 5/6 months? My son is going to be 3 months and is already at 8 oz bottles every 3 hours. I've been putting a small amount of cereal in his bottle before bed time (so only once a day) because he's literally starving all the time. He's never choked, has complete head control since 5 weeks, etc.

My little one is going to be 3 months tomorrow and weighs 13lbs. He was 7lbs 10oz when he was born, and 7lbs 3oz by the time we left the hospital. Hes been gaining, but I started giving him cereal at 2mo because he was losing from being sick and the reflux was making him spit up so much it was bothering me.

@bjqc_, my doc used to tease that he didn't want to know how much he weighed. He weighed 4# 10oz when born. At 4 mo he was 20#. My baby boy has been very healthy. Has not once had an ear infection. He will be 2 in march

@mommabird, I've read a lot of people do it to get them to sleep through the night. I don't mind waking up with him... He's a baby, he's hungry.. I'm his mommy. His needs outweigh mine :) he typically sleeps through the night since around 7 weeks old... before I started the cereal, I just started it... Because he wants more at that last feed, and 8 oz is already a lot... But I will definitely take a look at that :)
I started rice bottles at 3 months he had acid reflux and it helped I gave it to him once a day. which was at night and it also kept him fuller longer he was eating 6oz every two hours
Google 'virgin gut' if you haven't for some great info on why you would wait, then weigh the pros and cons. Idk your reasons for wanting to do it. They may outweigh reasons to wait.
@bjqc_, I also gave my son a little bit of cereal in his bottle bout that age. I just started my daughter cuz she wakes up wants an ounce to go back to sleep
My son has been on a rice cereal bottle for a month now, he's going to be 3 months on Sunday. It helps with his reflux, and it helps his belly stay full while he sleeps. I started him out with a tsp to a 3oz cereal bottle. He loves it.
