Is cereal really that bad for your baby? I'm seriously thinking about putting some in her bottle & she's 2 months.
See that's what I wanna do. I only wanna do one bottle at night. & not put much in it. @kgreer
Yes! It actually is, there is arsenic in it and the babies stomach has an open lining that does not properly close until around 6 months. Just because it may not cause health problems right now, why even open your child to that possibility and cereal in a bottle is one of the biggest nonos. If you need a formula with a filler, there are formulas MADE with the proper amount in it.
I think she was about 2 months. I didn't put much in there because it gets thick really fast. But you'll have to watch her really close because you may have to put. Bigger nipple on the bottle for the cereal to be able to go through the hole. I did it for her night time bottle.
@marcelljessica I started when my son was 3 months and he was perfectly fine didn't get constipated or anything . It's your decision . Every body is different .
Honestly when it comes down to it use what you think is best. Your the mom and you know your baby better than anyone else. The way I always looked at it was our parents probably gave it to us and who knows what else and we turned out just fine. I did it with my daughter and she never had a problem with it. It doesn't hurt to try. And if all else fails at lease you tried and decided to wait it out a little bit. Good luck momma 😀
I agree with @elliottgrey do not put it in your babies bottle. Not a good idea for her to chug it down right now. I know your reason. I want to give it to him so he'll sleep better but at your babies age, she honestly is just tasting it. not much of eating. i started my son at 3 months and he would spit most of it out than eat it. i would spoon feed him it. Plus it made it hard for him to poop. hes 4 months now so I'm going to try again. but they really wont swallow it until they know how to sit up and lean into a spoon. 6 months and beyond.
I was gonna wait until she was at least 4 months but I don't think I can anymore! @theinkedbarbie
For sure only try maybe one or two bottles a day, if you do decide to try. Then you can slowly work your way up to accommodate her!
I wanna try it but I'm scared! I only wanna do one bottle a day tho, like only at night so she'll sleep better & won't be as fussy. @bryaxtonsmommy
I started my son at about a month and a half. He never had a problem with it. He wasn't getting full and was making himself sick. It worked out great for us. Talk to your pedi and go with your gut momma!
Yea makes them super constipated. I'd try to wait a few more months if you can
My babys dr told me to put it in his bottle when he was a month old.
It's just harsh on a young baby's belly, and can make them easily constipated.
My son just couldn't get full. he's on special formula that's kinda thin so he just wasn't getting full
