What is everyones opinion on smoking pot while pregnant? I used to smoke a lot but i quit as soon as i got pregnant. Im not sure if i will ever do it but i heard taking edibles is not like inhaling the smoke & that it is better. Also read that there are no links between marijuana use & birth defects. Like i said, Im just curious if any mommies out here have done it before.

😕😕😕 I'm so sorry, that sounds awful to still be puking this far along! I actually didn't vomit once this whole pregnancy 😳 And I think you're right, even if something shows up, you can easily explain the situation and invite them to see the safe environment you've prepared for little babe. The government definitely doesn't want more mouths to feed off of their dime lol they won't be quick to make any rash decisions like taking away a child. You're not a crack whore mama, i wouldn't sweat it @morgans_mommie

True. Even if they did test I would feel HORRIBLE for risking it but I think they would come check it out and see how much family support we have, money and everything for the baby, safe home environment. And write it off real quick because I don't think I'm the kind of mom they're looking to take a child away from. They have better things to do. It's just been rough still puking daily at 35 weeks. It gets tiring! @blueberrybrewing

I agree with you! For me if I were to smoke it would've been just to chill lol because my morning sickness was okay, it didn't cripple me in anyway so I didn't look for anything to ease my tummy besides bread and ginger ale (oh so many carbs). But I understand how women who it effects strongly look for any sort of helpful 'cure'. Green, not green, it's every mother's choice. And I think you're right, they'll most likely only go into that sort of intensive testing if they see a necessity to do so, but if you and baby and both happy and healthy it'll more than likely be just fine in the end ! @morgans_mommie

@blueberrybrewing, I quit too and felt horrible starting back up months later because of how sick I was. But nothing else helped. I think it's totally different to take a couple hits here and there to cure morning sickness rather than sitting around partying and getting baked 24/7, ya know? But I live in Indiana and I'm worried cause they're strict about marijuana. But they've taken my blood and urine multiple times, never said anything. I do believe they have a right to test for no reason when you're on Medicaid and not private insurance (I'm on Medicaid) but testing the baby after birth through their meconium is not a cheap process so I think they only do it to people who they are suspicious of. Either low birth weight, history of drug abuse, premature birth. Hopefully I'm fine. 😔

I was a very heavy weed smoker before pregnancy, cigarettes too, but I have them both up when I found out I was pregnant, and my due date is this Friday so ive come a long away lol. True, every body has the right to make their own choices, and my choice was that as much as I loveddd smoking, I love my baby more. And really, is a year that long to give up weed? Definitely worth quitting it for me to take another step to ensure my baby's health. Again, this is all just how I felt. Be careful though because i live in NYC and they do urine checks every single visit and I'm not sure what all exactly they're testing for so it's likely drugs would show up, and I've had my blood tested a few times.

I was a heavy smoker as well but as soon as I found I out I was preggo, I put it down. I'm curious about this too since I know and read about women who's smoked during their pregnancy and their babies came out perfectly fine, but it's better to be moderate just to be safe.

Just be careful because I came up positive once in my pregnancy and got threatened by one of my midwives that a social worker would come talk to me, she is just a bitch though and I'm starting not to worry too much. But my best friend smoked her entire pregnancy with her first and same with her second now and Caleb was just fine! They didn't take him but I don't know which state you live in either so I don't know how strict the laws are.

she's great. big and healthy, she's 8 now. I don't remember how much she weighed at birth but she wasn't small or premature, but I know of other ppl that have had baby's that were less than 6 lbs that's why I think it depends on the person

@morgans_mommie, yea weed is one thing but i would neverrr smoke ciggs or drink alcohol. My sister in law smoke ciggs her first 2 pregnancies & they were both born at a low birth rate & her 2nd born has concentration issues. Now shes preggo with her 3rd & still smoking. 😑 anyway i do believe marijuana to be the least detrimental out of any other substance.

NO that doesn't happen with just marijuana. That's the problem with American studies on marijuana while pregnant. They take a lot of statistics from infants who were also born with traces of fetal alcohol syndrome as well as traces of other drugs in their bodies.. Then they say 'pot causes it' when marijuana ALONE has not been proven to do any of that.. Even smoking cigarettes and weed, the baby will come out a lower birth weight and nicotine withdrawal is a problem. But it's difficult to do a study here in America because so many people won't allow it to take place because of the child endangerment laws. I understand that most people who smoke weed end up doing other drugs as well, but it's not the weed's fault 😂 lol. So I think this country needs to get with the program tbh.

I don't smoke, but I know someone who did her whole pregnancy. I've heard some hospitals drug test your baby after its born and if it comes back positive for anything CPS gets called. But I don't know if that's true

@morgans_mommie, yes about the ganja babies 😉 thats why i wanted to know any personal experiences. I also knew a girl who smoked her whole pregnancy & drank alcohol (i would never do that) & her baby doesnt listen shes sooo bad! & she started growing her hair after she turned 1. It could be from all the other drugs i dnt think weed alone would have that effect.

I don't smoke, but I have a sister who did with her first and is now doing it with her second. It causes low birth rate when smoking it, idk about the edibles. as far as anything other problems, I'm not sure

And also yes you're right. Edibles are better and vaping because any kind of smoke isn't great for you. I use to smoke cigarettes and quit though so I don't even sweat this smoke. It's not as bad as a pack a day of marlboros. But it's definitely not GOOD

I've smoked my entire pregnancy. Baby is measuring huge and so healthy for where he's at. I've done so much research on it, it's not even funny. I avoid even taking Tylenol if it isn't absolutely necessary but marijuana is the only thing that eases my vomiting, even now this late in the pregnancy. I don't regret it at all. Have you read that Jamaican study on pregnant women?
