I thought behind the driver was actually safer. Because a driver will try to save their own side in a wreck. ? I don't think there's a law anyway is there?

Wherever you get the best install is where it should go. Statistically the driver side gets hit more in accidents then the passenger side does.

Statistically the best place is the middle. I don't have a middle seat (captain seats) so she is behind me because I worry about walking all the way around with her inside
