Day 8: birth plan
I'm hoping to have a natural, painmed-free delivery. I want to be mobile, using the resources the hospital has to offer- birthing ball, free prenatal massage, whirlpool tub, etc. I only want my husband and possibly my sister (who is an RN) in the room, in addition to hospital staff of course. I'm donating baby's cord blood, and want to have him for a few minutes right away before he's taken away to be cleaned up. Hubby will be cutting his cord. I want to know of all procedures and meds they give him, I want to breastfeed without anyone offering him a bottle, and he will be circumcised. This is all I have so far! I'm sure it'll all be blown out of the water haha can't control everything! This is just how I'm envisioning it.
Thanks @earthmama I'll look more into it! And thanks @arielle I'm sure I won't know what contractions and labor feels like until I actually experience it but I'm trying to prep my body as much as I can! All the Prenatal yoga classes I've taken will hopefully come in handy :)
I was open to doing no pain meds if I could handle it but wasn't opposed to getting some of I couldn't...and i couldn't! Just know that the epidural is amazing lol. If you do end up getting it, make sure they're coming to turn you to your otherwise every 30 min I believe? Epi works by gravity so you can't stay on one side of your body too long or it'll numb just that one side. But you definitely should strive to do everything you feel is right for you! Sounds like you have a good plan 😉
You CAN control it; you're the mom. It's not easy, but they need to respect you! I'm glad you are keeping baby for a few minutes.. It's so important! Plus... You might delay cutting the cord because the blood in the placenta belongs to baby and needs about 2 minutes to pump back to baby's body. Clamping and cutting too soon means we deprive baby of as much as 40% of baby's blood volume! ссылка
@jegagurl, yes indeed, but if you're dedicated to it I'm sure you'll be fine! Just don't feel bad at all if you end up opting for pain management, it is okay! And yes to what @earthmama said, tell them to put baby on you right away and don't cut the cord for 2-3min. 😁😁😁
