I only ever had contractions when they were the real deal with labor. Are they getting progressively worse? I am going to read the comments now to see, I am sure this has all been addressed by people who know what they are talking about. :D

@mims @momgroupreject I'm just SO confused because a few weeks ago my belly hardened which I trumped up to Braxton Hicks.... today was different which made me think contractions....with my last I was having contractions (saw them on the monitor at the hospital) I just wasn't feeling them so could this time be mild 🤔

Usually you can get Braxton hicks to slow or stop by drinking water and taking a break from whatever you’re doing. Or taking a bath. Again this isn’t a one person fits all scenerio. With my 12 year old I had contractions/Braxton every 5 minutes for 4 weeks nothing I did made it better. But man were my labors fast.

I would start timing them. The typical labor rule is 411, every 4mins lasting 1min for 1 hour. However because you are 34w if you have had several I would call if they have continued. Or if they start again just start tracking them. If they are coming every 20mins I would call my ob. Honestly if you are ever concerned call the ob anyway.

I started getting period cramp like pains right after my water broke but it was just such a difference to me vs what I’d been feeling before. If you want you can totally start timing them but if they’re sporadic like once an hour or something then it’s likely not contractions but if you’re getting them like 3/4 mins apart for more than an hour I would totally contact your doctor!

I have never felt contractions until after my water broke both labors. For my first, I was at work when my water broke so I knew I needed to head in rather soon. But for my second, I was actually hooked up to a machine at the drs having contractions every 5 minutes for well over an hour and had no idea. It wasn’t until an hour after they broke my water that I felt anything. Had my youngest 3 hours later.

It’s never a bad idea to time things or head in to get checked out if you’re feeling off. I’m not sure what would have happened with my youngest had I not already been at the drs that day and that scares me.

Agree with Braxton hicks but I felt the same way and wondered the same thing. My dr said “once it brings you to your knees or takes your breath away, you’ll know and start timing” 😂

Yeah they say Braxton hicks don’t hurt…they are liars. So it makes it hard to decipher if it’s real or not. Never hurts to time them. But Braxton hicks can be a bitch. It is true, for me, that when it’s full blown labor you won’t be able to walk, talk, nothing through a real contraction. But there are people who don’t have that response. So go with your gut and never feel bad getting checked out if you feel something isn’t right. 💜

What she said👆🏼

Contraction will make your whole uterus tighten. It’s it’s a true one/labor one you won’t even be able to talk through them. It will stop you in your tracks.

Braxton hicks are very common at this time and even earlier the more children you have. It’s a light tightening with a crampy pain.

I would say they're more so your whole stomach tightening, not just lower cramping like with a period. But it definitely doesn't hurt to time them so I would. You're most likely starting some braxton hicks
