Idk what to do. My daughter is excited to go to school each day but when she’s actually in school she’s giving the teachers such a hard time. She is constantly running out of the classroom, throws tantrums, tells the teacher no & refuses to do any work. I’m really trying to hold off on pulling her back out but I have no idea what to do. I’ve talk to her several times, I’ve taken all of her toys away, took tv time away, told her she can’t play with her siblings yet she’s still doing what she wants in school.. this is day 3 and she is reckless. I know she needs to adjust but I’m afraid this will be a on going thing 😕. I’ve requested to put her in a smaller classroom setting with more teachers, she also has an IEP so I’m thinking she needs the extra support & im hoping this works.

Ok this was my daughter when she started kindergarten weeks ago. Because she was never in a school setting or around kids her age really. So it took awhile for her to get adjusted to the rules and teachers but I’m telling you, she’ll get there! My daughter is doing amazing now but her teachers and the dean told me adjustment for kindergartners is always hard in the beginning. I was also thinking about taking my daughter out and I would cry. Keep working with the teacher on what you can do at home for your daughter and stick to your guns about her earning her incentives back. I promise it’ll get better!

This is EXACTLY why we did PreK twice and why my 6 year old is only in Kindergarten. Our first year of Pre-K was ROUGH. He was never a daycare kid and school was a HUGE shock to his system! Not to mention freakin Pre-K is a FULL day here now, not half. That's a LONG day, especially for the littles who are used to it bein just them and their Mama/Grandparent. Goin from that, to a room full of screamin brats, where you're NOT the sole receptacle for love/attention AND they actually tell you "No" 😳??! It's a LOT to take in.
He would literally just DECIDE when he was done with their shit for the day, grab his backpack and just walk out the classroom, talkin bout "I'm jus dunna walk to my Grammaws". 🤦♀️ I got called SEVERAL times to come get him, only to show up at the school to find him locked in the principals office, while she physically- with her BODY-barricaded the door to prevent his escape while he SCREAMED hysterically from the other side. It was sad, but for his safety. He was LITERALLY tryin to just walk out the front door of the school to the damn street, so he could "walk to his Grammaws". 🙄 EMBARRASSING! 🤦♀️ REALLY thought I was a HORRIBLE patent and thanking my LUCKY stars I only had 1 human to fuck up and I wouldn't be responsible for any others! 🥺
Workin with his teacher and principal, we switched him to half days for the rest of that first year and re-did Pre-K last year. He was a COMPLETELY different kid!
You are NOT a bad Mama and you are CERTAINLY not alone girl. Keep your head up and keep advocating for your baby! You'll have to work closely with the school, teachers, principal, school nurse, hell we even had Miss Jody (the lady that runs the elementary office-and really the entire elementary) on our team! It LITERALLY takes a village Mama, DON'T be afraid to reach out and get you a good, solid, SUPPORTIVE one built for her and you! Having their input was INVALUABLE to me, once I put my ego aside and dropped the "Whatchu MEAN, my PRECIOUS baby might not be ready for school" tude I was havin. Those teachers have put 100s of kids through school, I'm sittin here just startin my first, thinkin I know better than them?? 🤯
Here's the thing, they know kids-in general- and the process of school MUCH better than I. At the same time, I know my child better than any of them do. It was really for the best that we work TOGETHER.
I'm TELLIN you, he's a completely different kid at school now. Just be patient with her Mama, and ask the school to do the same. She WILL get there, PROMISE. 😊
BIG hugs to you in the meantime girl. I know how rough it can be. 😘
