My sons teacher has flat out admitted that she doesn’t know what to do with him and she is now forwarding ALL of my emails to the special needs teacher?? This just isn’t making any sense at all & I feel like she’s picking on him 🙄 I really don’t want to be this person but I’m about to raise hell 🤷♀️ plus he’s already failing reading, writing & math and I’ve made sure that every single bit of work that has been sent home or not completed at school has been completed and returned and she isn’t counting it. Plus she wrote him up for calling something ugly! I’m over her!!

I got the EIP in March so just at the end of the school year last year. I’ve reached out to the principal and she said if I don’t hear from her by Thursday to let her know and they’ll get to the bottom of it.
With my older son the teacher would tell me the same thing.it’s so frustrating to feel helpless and to know how your child must feel at school.
Thus hurts my heart. I've experienced this both my boys have/had speech delay and iep’s. They used to tell me that with my now 21 year old. My 10 year old is experiencing the complete opposite. I’m in Phoenix too. He goes to Eagle College Prep. In my experience either they don’t care or give 100%. It makes all the difference, it’s not your child it’s how they are proving the necessary teachings that help.
They’ve been testing my son since he was in kindergarten. He’s falling way below average on everything and they’re just not putting in any effort to help him. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt but when I look at his grades and I see that in reading writing and math, his grades never win above a 50% it’s alarming and I can’t figure out what is going on when I’m getting all of the work completed. Something is happening in class or at school and everyone’s not on the same page and no one’s keeping in contact with me and it’s really bugging the crap out of me.
@jays.mom., Is it a public school? My advice is to look at nearby schools. It’s the school/district . I elected a charter school because I didn’t care for the public schools near me . With an IEP they should have a meeting at the beginning and end of school year . My son receives speech 2x a week, oc every other week , extra help in a smaller group for reading / this is how he learned to read. The homework is customized to his ability because if he does work that’s too hard for him he will just fall further behind . He also received testing in another class when they had to or had questions read to him.
Teachers are pushed thin in alot of our schools and are not given the resources needed to help our kiddos who need extra help or may have special services needed. I would go in and have an in person meeting with teacher, special needs teacher and principal. I'm sorry your son is going through this. I has a step daughter and we went through this in the grade k-3 every year. Our teachers are not being trained properly and are given so many kids who all meet different needs and it's alot on one teacher as well as the kids.

@jays.mom. yeah I would be a pain in there butt and show up every day until the principal would make time for me and we get a plan in order
@jays.mom., that’s bs. You gotta keep standing up for your kid. I think you need to have a meeting with them and get to the bottom of it.
@supermomof4, oh I’m definitely going to. I can’t have a repeat of last year, I’ve told her 2 separate times” I think the special needs coordinator, the teacher & myself need to have a meeting and come up with a plan” the teacher says oh I’ll get back to you. And never does. I’m going to have to get admin involved and if that doesn’t does anything I’m going to the school board with a lawyer. He’s disabled per the school district and in the process of getting approved for disability, like this is serious & she doesn’t care.
@jays.mom., go over the teachers head. She’s already proven that she will illegally disregard his 504 plan and dismisses you as well as your son. Email the vice principal or the principal saying (not asking) that a meeting needs to happen asap with all of the people on his team. If that doesn’t work, go above them to the school board.
Has he qualified for special education services? Or is she trying to get him tested to get him out of her hair or what?
Yeah he’s in special needs services right now, I think that she just doesn’t have the patience for him. Shes right writing him up for expressing his opinion, also for saying “what the heck” she says it’s inappropriate language. The special-needs teacher that is getting all of my emails forwarded to her happened to be his first grade teacher so she knows how to accommodate him and how to do things for him. She flat out told me on Friday that his teacher doesn’t know what to do and that she’s just writing him up to write him up now. I even asked for him to be in a confined classroom because of his anger and his outburst and they keep telling me that it’s not appropriate right now. I’m lost
I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!
My August baby decided she wanted to be a May baby like her big sister. Madison Noelle was born on Tuesday, May 24 at 3:50pm, weighing 2lbs, 13oz and 14". She was born at 27 weeks and has a long road ahead of her. Every day she has been getting stronger and amazing everyone. Please keep us in your prayers, my family and I have a long road ahead of us. If Jr has an IEP & one of the things in it says he can take breaks as needed, but his teacher isn’t giving him the breaks he’s asking for what do I do? If I can do anything at all..
Wow that sounds really frustrating! Did he get an IEP before school started or is it new? Because I would think schools typically place kids with whatever teacher would work best for their needs and it doesn’t sound like the case here. Maybe you could request a different teacher that’s more suitable for his needs? Second grade is much more difficult than first and If he’s already falling behind this early in the school year then the rest of the year is just going to be a huge struggle for him.
