Have a question for the teachers. If any could reply. Could you evaluate a child one week from returning to school and make a decision to send that child 1 year back? Let's say this child hasn't been in school since march 2020. The child shy and adjusting to being back to in-person.

School fees Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".

@ekko .also could you elaborate on what you mean by hasn't been on school??? Like were they're virtual learning or home schooled last year?

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking, but if the question is wondering if schools will evaluate a child and retain them for the previous year’s grade, then the answer is likely no. Every student in the country has had a year+ of disrupted education. Also, many districts have very specific policies and timelines on retaining a child in a grade that they’ve already been in — and in most cases the deadline for that has passed. What type of evaluation are you wanting the teacher/school to do? Has the child has any schooling since March 2020?

then to add they have a shortage in teachers an they combine kindergarten an 1st grade this year. Their 20 kids in total.

So they wanted her in a K/1 class? Multiage classes can actually be wonderful BUT a K/1 is not developmentally appropriate and should be avoided at all costs.

that's what I thought. Thanks for the help. I'm just upset an been actually very emotional with all this. I'm afraid in changing her to another school an that change affect her too. I have lost sleep from all this an thinking what will be best for her. I really hate her teacher an the attitude she gave me. My husband looking into everything an also seeking for help from parents that have gone thru this.
