What tablet do you recommend for my 3 year old son? Normally I frown upon tablet use for toddlers but we’re going on a trip next month and I need something for him to do in the car. Otherwise he either talks continuously or eats continuously and it’s so hard for me to focus on driving 😩
We’re an Apple family so that’s all I know, but an iPad would be too advanced for him to use independently. We only have 1 iPad and my daughter uses it.
Any suggestions? Is there something we can use without WiFi?

Sidenote, has he ever used a tablet of any kind in the car? I only ask because both my kids get extremely car sick if they even look at a tablet In a moving vehicle.

He hasn’t shown any signs of getting car sick so far. My daughter did when we were coming down from up north but that’s because it was a very windy road (hwy 1). She’s used it on regular freeways and hasn’t had a problem.

good deal! I wishhhh my kids didn’t get so car sick. My daughter is an amazing traveler but I wish I could put a tablet in front of eric to get us through the long long drives. 🤮

I don’t think an iPad would be too advanced. I just got my daughter her own iPad for her 3rd birthday. She has two things she’s allowed to access. My 1 yr old also knows how to use it. I definitely recommend an iPad. We have 2 iPads and two androids. My son is the android user.
ETA: you could always add it to your phone plane for the network but I’m not sure about others that perform without WiFi.

We have an iPad and he’s used it many times but it has non-kid apps on it and he doesn’t really know how to stick to just the kid apps. I guess if he had his own I could delete all that other stuff, but I was looking for something more toddler friendly. Thanks for your input though

this is what I just commented about! You can download games and apps to use offline. You’d have to preload them with your wifi but then he can use them. It comes with a shit ton of preloaded kid friendly apps

We have the Amazon fire tablet and it’s really cool. You can download books/games for offline use. It also gives you a year of the services for free and after that it’s like $2.99, you can block certain things, set timers, etc. it’s really kid friendly.

My daughter has the amazon fire too but u can’t download like YouTube kids. Or anything .. n it can only hold so much storage for downloaded stuff .. she only uses her tablet for YouTube so wen we are on the road and I take it she doesn’t even use it for the downloaded things

Ok I think that’s fine for my son because he doesn’t know how to use YouTube. My daughter loves YouTube but she uses the iPad.
