There are NO good cops. Good cops wouldn’t sit by silently and allow police brutality or the murder of people.
Committing a crime is NOT an automatic death sentence. Skin pigmentation cannot continue to be a death sentence.
So sad. Now I had a resident come at me with a knife. Had I even put my hands on me I would’ve been under investigation by the justice center and there would’ve been a review by the human rights committee and his family. But again people with a gun and a badge are investigated by those who are essentially their peers?
It’s not that people don’t respect authority. The majority of people do. What’s going on in this country is that being a police officer in this country has become an entitled privilege and it’s been badly taken advantage of. People have suffered immensely because of unnecessary harassment, beatings, etc and more often that not, things are swept under the rug.
I’ve been brutalized and harassed by the police just because of where I happened to be. As a kid, I was accused of not living in my own neighborhood and escorted home to make sure I wasn’t lying or in the neighborhood to steal. There are countless experiences that happen like this and what @monstermommax3, has gone through along with millions of others. This kind of treatment brought upon us causes PTSD/anxiety, doubt and hatred of the police. Until others get that and we actually begin defunding the police to create and better fund preventative programs, this cycle will continue to exist.
All Im saying is “the good cops” are never around when their cop buddies are on a power trip.
Nyc is a s*** hole now because everyone wants no cops around. The crime rate is triple and the stupid bail reform is a mess. More than 500 cops resigned. I don’t feel safe. This has nothing to do with color now. This is just extreme. This goes beyond what the protesting is about. Rape went up, murder, robberies, drive by shootings etc. I don’t want to live in a city with no cops. Children have been getting attacked. It’s a mess.
Because the entire point in defunding police is to allocated that funding into preventive programs. The issue is police are quitting and the same shitty programs that existed and brought us here are still the same.
I respect your feelings, but disagree with what you said. I’m also so sorry you have experienced so many things that have caused you to feel this way. I do feel there are good cops though. I believe there are cops who take their oath to serve very seriously and dedicate their lives to serving other people, even if it means putting themselves in harms way. My SD was molested by her mother’s boyfriend, and the cops who worked the case to bring that sick f*** down were amazing. They provided my family with amazing resources and worked tirelessly to gather evidence to ensure a conviction (which we got). They even went above and beyond to look for other females the same man could have had the opportunity to hurt. Managed to find 2 other girls who experienced the same thing by the same man and never reported it. All 3 girls received justice and professional help.
Lucky them. My best friend died of an intentional overdose. I saw her molester just the other day. He got 3 months probation and isn’t on the registry. My rapist died alone in a motel room and his body rotted for three days.
I would hardly say lucky them. All 3 were victims of rape and had their childhoods and innocence stolen from them, just as you and your friend did. The trauma will always be there.
I meant lucky them on not being accused as a child of seducing or fantasizing about a grown man. Or like myself being accused of bruising my self in order to “cry rape”.
As a white woman I recognized the privilege I receive just based on skin pigmentation alone. The moment that woke me up was my cousin had her wife’s niece and nephew. Her nephew snuck out at 3a. The lecture he had to receive included a lot of “you can’t get away with things the white boys you hang out with can”. It was so sad to see the fear in his aunt and grandmothers faces as they had to explain it to a 12 year old boy. Btw he never made it off his own porch before the police were knocking on their door asking if he “belonged” there.

If there were good cops then this wouldn’t even have to be a topic of discussion. The police force is seen as a brotherhood, so called good cops don’t speak out against abuse of power that they see. So I’ll say it once more, until cops are holding themselves and each other accountable there are NO good cops.

Oh ya, great idea, take the uniform off and be a target with a badge on. Don’t call them next time you see a violent situation. They need and use every tool on their belt to protect even you with that disgusting opinion.
My SO was arrested. They brought him in front of our daughter so she had to watch instead of doing it by their car where he was speaking with them. They searched my car on the side of the highway and found nothing but left my shit (including my daughter’s diaper bag) in the shoulder for me to pick up after they left.

in my profession for example I’m mandated to report abuse, neglect, obstruction of rights, amount other things. If I don’t I can face criminal charges. Why are police officers not held to the same standard? I make barely minimum wage and am held to higher standards than someone with a gun and a badge?
